The eye needs to be in focus!

I know that, but I was not able to ask him to turn around, especially was not able to go in the aquarium and physically move him either. Lol

 

It was super dark in there, I think I shot this at about ISO 3200. I just thought his skin was so cool!

I understand the issue. From my previous comment the focus would have been better back an inch or two. Even with the head pointing the wrong way it would have been better to have it in focus. It looks like you had the focus selection in the center or that is where AF decided it wanted. A suggestion would be to turn off AF and set by hand.

It is nice to be able to get exotics without having the travel into the jungle. But they rarely let you take a tripod in. Increasing the DOF would have helped here too.

Yes! Definitely liked the skin color.

I was focusing on manual. I never use AF with my macro.

 

Anyways I preferred to have the back and belly in focus. This was the look I was going for. I was focusing on his skin. When I focused more towards the back(of the frog), which I did do in a few photos, the front half was WAY more less visible and didn't even look like a frog head,and visa versa. When focusing on the head, the legs were not recognizable, just a blob. This was the best point of focus be able to show the skin and also have it recognizable as a frog. I tried them all :)

 

There was also no possible way to even get a shot period without having it at 2.8 because it was DARK in there. This photo in no way represents what the room was like. I would have had to shoot at a way higher ISO than 3200, and I did, and it looked horrible.

 

Fortunately I found a different aquarium later on that was very well lit but unfortunately they were not as close as this guy was.
