davidclapp 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Shot using the Nikon G 14-24 on a 1DsIII @ 14mm, this impeccable optic has sun my photography into new areas. Many thanks for looking... Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted July 11, 2009 This is a lot to look at--maybe too much. The very detailed fan vaulting and stone tracery makes one want to take it all in. It's the kind of scene-setting shot that might be followed by close-ups of significant details, such as the stained glass windows, the legend at bottom left. I agree that your rendition captures the atmospherics, but if this is all you're going to give us, I'd suggest post-processing to establish the blacks a little better. Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Fair play Charles, I like your version too, its perhaps a little less airy than mine, but I do like it. I just processed it with the same depth of tones as there was present and didnt add any extras as I just liked the shot from the original exposure.... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 12, 2009 You're very kind, David. It's not easy to post-process a low-res JPEG, and personally I find my own results a little dark and oppressive--too much detail. But it does contrast with this more airy picture (which is tending to fall apart compositionally because of the darks in the middle and the low-contrast highlights on either side) in its more uniform tones. You have a high-resolution original, and I think you could get the best of both worlds, an even rendition of tones and the feeling of delicacy you value in your current interpretation. It's a good subject, and it's well worth trying for. What do you think? Link to comment

stuart_williams 0 Posted July 13, 2009 with the 14-24, and lack of ability to use filters, are you just blending exposures more often? i like this - seems to be a chamleon's disjointed view of the world. Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted July 13, 2009 Its pretty much all I do and have ever done. Who needs a piece a overpriced plastic with a straight line on it in front of these impeccable optics and sensors? Its the 21st century, I want lazers firing out of my gyroscopic hover-camera :) Link to comment
tinameikle 0 Posted July 14, 2009 I feel the lightness enhances the delicate tracery of that wonderful ceiling. I would love to know the location, as it looks well worth a visit....not that the world would be beating a path for my shot, I'll leave that to you, lol!! Regards, Tina. Link to comment

tmjacobs 0 Posted October 30, 2009 Lovely! It's a pity there isn't a bigger version to give more detail. I've uploaded a rather similar version, but with panorama technique to give an even wider view. Link to comment
