Not Here 93 Posted July 8, 2009 Yea!! Christal's back :-) An excellent shot to return to active duty with. Beautiful b/w conversion with a full range of tones. Love the old grain barn as a subject... Mike Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted July 8, 2009 Thanks, Mike! Glad you like it. We visited some friends in Edmonton, then drove back to Calgary on country roads. It was sure a lot more interesting than the Interstate! We found this great little town with an active train track.....it was fun. I have lots more pictures, but I have a terrible work flow, and it takes me forever to load them. Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted July 9, 2009 Great shot Christal. Very well composed and a great job on the conversion to b/w. This is really "Palouse " like. There are a lot of these types of structure here and so this picture has a very comfortable feel to me. You take care and look forward to more.Jim Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted July 9, 2009 A fabulous shot of these old beauties Christal! What town was this in? There's not a lot of these grain elevators left standing anymore. Most have been knocked down for liability reasons. Nice work. All the best,Neil Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted July 9, 2009 Thanks for your interest in this. Yes, the eastern Alberta Badlands are very similar to the Palouse, and there is the similar problem of having difficulty pulling off the road for photo ops. We drove from Edmonton to Calgary via the back roads and happened upon this cute little town of Stettler, NE of Calgary. I'll enclose the color version so you can see the unusual color of the distant building. Please let me know which version you prefer. Thanks, fellas! Link to comment
photo by patsy dunn 1 Posted July 11, 2009 Christal, This is a beautiful photo, I think I like the black & white best. Oh I don't know ,they are both really nice shots. Great capture. Regards, Patsy Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 15, 2009 I like the BW version. It is perfect for these rural buildings. Regards Link to comment
lindabique 1 Posted July 15, 2009 I like both versions, but I think the black and white is more elegant, though the bright colors and light are fantastic in the colored version....very well balanced composition, the angle of the RR tracks makes a great lead-in. I like the geometric shapes of the building and the drama in the sky...well captured, excellent conversion to black and white....:) Link to comment
rbanfield 0 Posted July 19, 2009 Really liking your latest submissions. This one of the grain elevator is really crisp and very well composed. Awesome. Also, thanks for your kind comments on my road trip photos... Link to comment
Yves Petronin 42 Posted February 6, 2010 Remarkable picture, with a fantastic variation of grey tones.....Simple and powerfu... Link to comment
antoniobassiphotography 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Wonderful scene and elegantly composed. I definitely like the B&W version. Maybe you gave excessive contrast and lost a bit of detail on the highs; I think a more natural conversion would work better but that's a matter of personal taste! Ciao. Link to comment
billsymmons 0 Posted November 17, 2010 Really nice B&W work Christal. The viewpoint is very well chosen to angle the tracks as a lead in and then process for drama in the light.Very niceAll my best, Bill Link to comment
