Nice composition here. Can sometimes be difficult with large groups of flowers to get the balance just right. I am a huge fan of the soft approach to flower images but in this case it just does not seem to work as it should. Think perhaps there needs to be some separation between the flowers and that soft b/g they at least for me seem to be getting swallowed up by the softness of the b/g. I think the flowers need highlighted more, am sure the answer has something to do with light.

I think the line of flowers that are in focus makes this work.Once the viewer is satisfied that something is in focus, then are then free to roam freely about the image, which are the blending of whites, greens and yellows.

Thank all of you for the kind comments!

I took about 30 images of this group of flowers with 3 different lenses from many angles. The shallow DOF of the Sigma 30mm at f2 achieved the "impressionist" painting quality that I was looking for in this image. When I put it up full screen on my 24 inch iMac it felt right and it worked for my eyes like in Carey's comment.

But, the out of focus flowers drive my wife crazy:-) This one did not win her praise.

Have a good night!

I am a fan of the soft impressionistic look here. A different approach and effective IMO. My first impresssion was of a very artistic painterly effect. Nice work! Best regards, Leslie
