The sun was just about 15 minutes from rising and the mosquitoes and

alligators were on the look out for breakfast. Although all the

mosquitoes seem to have found me, I was only eye balled by a couple

gators wishing I would join them for a swim and breakfast. Because of

the wide dynamic range of this image, I actually combined two

different exposures into one. It was the rainy season and the pumps

were running a full capacity to move the water away from the cities

and into the Everglades. The water you see was moving very quickly and

the sound of pumps and buzzing mosquitoes filled the air.

I know too well how thick the mosquitoes can be and how insatiable their appetites. I like the horizon placed in the middle and your blending is transparent. Nice subtle color palette.

Wonderful capture, Leo. Your commentary adds to the drama of this scene. You are mighty brave (or crazy) to take on the Everglades.

This is lovely!

Your description of the morning sounds, sights and such was so good, I could almost hear the pumps doing their job and the mosquitos buzzing in my ear.

Leo, I used to fish the Everglades every weekend when I lived in Pompano Beach. I would be out there at sunrise, the Rangers would not let us out earlier. This brings back many good memories. Had caught a lot of gators also!

Nice job. Oh, BTW, I like the horizon right where it is. Some people get too hung up on the so called "rules".

First of all thanks a lot for your comment and yes I agree with you a 100% concerning rules. They are helpful guides which can be applied in most cases but not in all. In this image the inclusion of the two clouds in the sky and the foreground rocks and cattails far out weigh any rules concerning division of elements. I will always favor emotional impact of rules of composition.
