pnital 36 Posted July 4, 2009 Very good timing, expressions and well composed)( all 3 of them) well converted to B/W. My only wish will be a bit more light on the boy's face. I tried to work on it a bit, I hope you don't mind, let me know if you want me to delete? Link to comment

aarkp 2 Posted July 4, 2009 I'm delighted that you took the time and effort to work on one of my photographs! I'm uploading the original jpg as it came out of the camera (but i worked on the raw file which i can't upload)... these two young people were working with many others in a verandah... i had my eye on these two particularly as i sensed a worthy composition in their juxtapositioning... and i got this photograph which satisfied me immensely... the girl's head is turned to present a sharp clean left profile (and one sharp clean ear)... above her the boy, looking up, and the angle of the light showing us sharply and cleanly the right side of his face, as if profiled by the light... the motorcycle at the back was the third element and on it i just exercised whatever post-processing skills i have achieved to date i thank you for your very heartening interest in my work and would not have you delete anything... warm regards, rajat Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted July 4, 2009 Thanks, El, as always. Your support is an impetus... Oops! Fabrizio, thanks. A confidence booster... Link to comment
ray.koushik 0 Posted July 4, 2009 apu-durga! brilliant image. Pnina makes it even better with the light...one complaint is about the glaring bright spot on the motorcycle. perhaps it'd be better to clone that out, it's a distraction. compliments -koushik Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted July 4, 2009 thanks Koushik, dodging and burning i do [as i did make use of these tools when i had my own makeshift darkroom in the days of film... a long time ago] but cloning i avoid on most photographs... do that when i'm experimenting/exploring/etc Link to comment
dara 0 Posted July 6, 2009 Rajat, really a very nice portrait and nice lighting....if I may suggest if the right side was not so cropped (girls head) it would make the picture perhaps more complete....anyway nice work....Best wishes Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted July 6, 2009 Vladimir, thank you. I'm glad you like it. Dara, I did not want to crop her bun but had to unless i was willing to clone away the bright spots you can see in the original color photograph, behind the boy's head at the top edge of the motorcycle wheel... too bright and spotty to be acceptably burned out and quite marring my composition... i appreciate the spirit of your observation and hope you continue the practice... :>} Link to comment
aldrich 0 Posted July 8, 2009 Rajat, I took the original and put some focus on the boy via his shirt...it's a technique I personally love to use...I don't know if you'll like it, but here we go. --Ryan Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted July 8, 2009 your taking the time and effort to explore possibilities of one of my photographs is a heart-warming gesture that is much appreciated... but this hybridization (it is not meant disparagingly) is not my style... Link to comment
