GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted July 1, 2009 Great capture Jim...reminds me of many a campfire.....before this home, we lived in the country on Scugog Island just 45 minutes norht of here.....we'd built a beautiful deck, and a neighbor made us the greatest 'corn pot' with a swivel arm to bring it away from the fire for 'serving'....that's what we would have been doing tonite....if we were up there.....I loved doing 'foil packet dinners' in the fire. It was a lovely spot....a buck with at least 6 in his 'harem' often would peak out of the woods.....it was a barren farmer's field directly behind us, and a dense woods to the left of the field.......not too far from the fence was a big pile of rocks and overgrown brush....on sunny Sunday afternoons, we'd often see a fox, sprawled across a rock sunning himself.....quite often young deer would come up to our fence. I have one regret......there was an old tree in the middle of the field about half a mile away, I am not sure if it was on old dutch elm but it was so tall and had such a massive 'spread', reminded me of the trees you see in Africa on the Seringeti(sp). On certain summer evening as the sun was going down......it would fill the 'centre' of the tree.....it was a glorious sight, actually breath taking, but would only last for moments...at the time I did not have a camera...had given my son my Canon G-1 film camera. I drifted away again, I apologise.....there are just some photos that bring back memories....you commented on one by Ross Yourth...Winter on Lake Ontario...and I'm so glad you did....I grea up in Oshawa...and live just 10 minutes from there, along the shores of Lake Ontario.........I had a good time looking and commenting on his photos....if it weren't for you...I never would have seen them....Thankyou.....Gail Link to comment
