dougityb 0 Posted June 21, 2009 This is the next to the last portrait in the series. By this point, the expressions were beginning to feel redundant, so it was time to quit. After Carolyn, I photographed myself as the end piece. Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted June 21, 2009 Great series Doug. I would suggest any fellow viewers go to your portfolio and look at the rest. A grreat study in the human face. This is a worthy addition.Best wishes-Jim Link to comment
sacha_de_carlo 0 Posted June 22, 2009 After having a glance at the whole folder, I understand it makes sense to put them all together, may try a collage of the most interesting (to you)? One silly question: why are they all so serious? no smiles? Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted June 22, 2009 Thanks Jim, Sacha, there are two reasons for that: One, the initial image (basically, the first person in the series) had this same expression, more or less, and I chose to echo that expression with each successive subject. The second reason was the lighting: Even at 1000 ISO, the exposure was 1/60 at f/2.8, so I had very little tolerance for people moving around with lively expressions. Both of these were used as excuses, actually, because I like the steady, unemotional faces, which allow me, as a student of the face, to inspect it more carefully without emotional distraction.
