dougityb 0 Posted June 19, 2009 Is this better than the previous one, where Colleen was asleep? Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted June 20, 2009 I've been jumping around the two photographs a few times and have finally made up my mind that I like the other one more. The calm repose of her neck is much more appealing than this craning which makes her head seem disproportionate to the great bulk formed by her dress. If ever opportunity presents itself again and you find a beautiful lady napping on a sofa chair next to a window try a different shot (not that these are not nice, i just feel that [the one i'm getting to] would also be nice. Go down on bended knees before her and take the shot from a little below her, angling the camera up. Ensure that the window has a lot of soft light falling on her face, which needless to add, has to be turned towards said window. To ensure that you have the right color palette the lady will have to be dressed in a color that harmonizes (not parallels) the color of the wall behind the sofa chair. The sofa chair tapestry... ok ok i'm going now... ciao Link to comment

suspendedmoments 0 Posted June 21, 2009 Hi Doug... this is such a wonderful portrait.. great balance of light and color with interior/exterior elements all working out. I like the warmth of the wood flooring and it's lines leading us to the primary subject.. .then she, with all her soft material about her, takes us outside with her gaze, all perfectly nested in a tranquil moment alone.... not sure what the ribbon and lace she has about her and in her hands is to intend... but it's interesting and serves to break her out of a normal portrait of one gazing and musing. thank you as always for sharing your work... wonderful and masterful work Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted June 21, 2009 Fred, the pleasure is all mine. Thank YOU for your well observed and generous comments. I think the ribbon was actually part of the dress, a belt of sorts. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted June 24, 2009 Simple and nice window light, beautiful tones in the highlights, lovely feet and expression, and a nice, subtle, subdued little story behind this picture... I like it... This series is much better than the dark top one, imo. Cheers. Link to comment
