Basking Seal Lion
Ok, photographing the sea lions that hang out daily on Pier 39 in San Francisco may not be the most challenging of wildlife assignments, but I liked the way a few of the images turned out.
For those who don't know, there's a group of juvenile sea lions that spend a lot of time in San Francisco harbor, basking during the day a short walk from Fisherman's Wharf. There are always a bunch of folks with cameras floating around. You can't get too close, so a long lens helps if you want to isolate a single sea lion. Here I think I used my trusty 80-200, though I may have stuck a 1.4 teleconverter on it, too; I don't think I had the 300 with me. Enjoy.
