marcadamus 1 Posted June 17, 2009 I am always amazed by the varied tiers and textures of these massive falls. I'd appreciate any feedback on this one. Thanks! Link to comment
don_lally 0 Posted June 18, 2009 definitely like the B&W with this shot. And how the logs kind of lead you into the falls. Great work. Is this up in the gorge?? Link to comment
pduffy1 1 Posted June 18, 2009 Wonderful perspective and tone. You've captured the essence of being there. Great job ! Link to comment
jtangen 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Hi Marc, Excellent composition. I'm surprised at that there are a few hot spots here and there though. Where are these falls? Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted June 18, 2009 Yeah, sorry. That's easy to clean up and won't be on a large print. Just some sloppy PS work for web presentation on a few of those whites. Link to comment
alextremps 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Hy Marc, excellent, as always, good idea b&w. Get's more strengh and makes interesting the little water falls. Link to comment
brendan_trewartha 0 Posted June 18, 2009 A very unique and interesting waterfall picture Marc, the leading lines from the logs keep drawing my eye to the base of the falls which is like lots of mini waterfalls. The black and white treatment also works very well. Link to comment
agusti 1 Posted June 18, 2009 Tiene que ser un gran y paciente momento a la espera de esas luces magicas. Saludos. Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Excellent composition, I like the presence of two focal points that keep your eyes wandering back and forth between them. Link to comment
jeromeaoustin 0 Posted June 19, 2009 Tones, textures, composition... beautiful shot Marc. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted June 19, 2009 The presence of the large pieces of wood has added a lot to the variety of textures that you were after. I especially like the flow of the water over the rocks in the background. The biggest issue I have when I try shots like this is deciding where to place the lower border: should I have nothing but water flowing out of the bottom of the frame, as you have done here, or should I include elements that break up this uniform flow of water? I don't know the answer. If I had wanted to break up the flow, I probably would have placed the lower edge just below the piece of wood on the left and the rocks just to the right of the midline. That would have resulted in a lower edge consisting of wood, rocks, and water flowing out of the bottom. That variety may be more aesthetically pleasing. I'm not sure -- it's a thought. mpitak 0 Posted June 19, 2009 Beautiful B&W photo with excellent exposition. Interesting composition - plenty of small falls on the upper part of the photo gives a lot of light which nicely contrasts with chunky darkish wood on the bottom and some rocks on the middle. It is still quite dynamic even if longer exposition made water smooth and blurred.Great job Marc. Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted June 20, 2009 Marc, I congratulate your expanding versatility. Your relentlessly perfect and colorful landscape work is unmatched, and your translations of your colorful world to B/W like this are exciting to see. This images is so well done in color with prismatic sun beams like you and Rick Lundh and Stephen Penland have done before. In this form, the high contrast water flows like silk over the jagged lava rock. It's quite mesmerizing in this form. The brilliant mossy green doesn't distract, but the absence of color allows the amazing textures to jump out. This reminds me of your Alvord Desert images. Have a rich and productive summer of shooting, Marc! -Kurt Link to comment
davidjames 0 Posted June 21, 2009 Simply stunning. The B/W creates a very dramatic feel as does the rushing water and yet detail in the blacks is still maintained. Your black and white conversion is flawless. Amazing Link to comment
gfkremer 0 Posted June 21, 2009 Well done! I like the near abstract image at the top of the frame evolving into the logs. The repeating pattern in the falls does it for me! Link to comment
carlwakefield 0 Posted June 22, 2009 Really amazing water falls the top half of the picture and the background wall of the falls make it so special to me. And as commented the wood adds a lot. The key was still the time factor with the water blurr and contrast, excellent image and B/W shot. Link to comment
quasifoto 0 Posted June 23, 2009 Amazing capture and place! The B&W treatment looks great, but I do wonder what the color version would look like too. Best Regards ~ Gary Link to comment
