Guest Guest Posted June 14, 2009 The ease and softness of the facial expression and the mysteriousness of the lighting contrast with the very intentional, posed look of the hands. They seem to be the hands of two different persons, adding another layer. I relate counting in your title to counting with one's fingers and that lessens the effect of the work as a whole for me because it seems so literal, for a photo that is not quite literal, but more suggestive. sideris 0 Posted June 15, 2009 Thank you all friends for your warm comments. Fred, you are right in several issues, first of all, the title seems as exaggerated, redundant, a more cryptic title would be more appropriated. Second, yes are the hands of two different persons, father and son. The idea was to suggest the strong laces among two particular human beings, afflictions of a young boy and the supportive strength of his father's hands. Link to comment
rome 0 Posted June 15, 2009 for me the crop does not work to well. i think a 5/7 type or close to it, would work a lot better. i did not get it until i read your explanation and i come to the conclusion it was because i was "lost" in to the darkness. could be that there are issues, with where the main focus is? is there to much dark empty and unused space? i think a little more light could have been used to define more of both parties! i am not an expert, i am just trying to understand and learn. william_staniforth 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Composition and lighting are spot on . Personally I would have cropped the left side to a portrait format . Link to comment

skyjammer 0 Posted July 3, 2009 As always, your work channels a lot of emotion for me. You can feel the heavy burden this young man is bravely carrying in his eyes. Great lighting! Cheers, -Ade Link to comment
