jan_piller 0 Posted June 10, 2009 And fascinating!! Who would have thought a dead fish could be "art". And the colours are beautiful! Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted June 13, 2009 Hi David,Nice to see you `branching-out' into some new things. This is a very well conceived and executed shot. However, I found the bottom corners distracting due to bright spots and a speck of red that tend to `draw the eye' away from the center of interest. Also, the bone(?) sticking up from the mid-spine feels out-of-place from a visual standpoint. Just my personal view of what I'd `fix' if it were my photo.Regardless, this is an interesting and visually engaging work-of-art. You are letting us see a little more of your broad talent and range of interests. I like what I am seeing.I did about a minute's worth of touch-up on this image and attached it to show what I was referring to above. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted June 13, 2009 Thanks for the lengthy comment and for your effort in 'playing' with the image. I cannot argue with anything you have said. The red thing in the bottom right corner is not part of the photograph. Thanks again! Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted June 13, 2009 Hehe, I noticed, after hitting SEND, that the red item was probably your `signature' chili pepper.I still think it was distracting, but would suggest placing it elsewhere in the image, such as overlaying or in the border in cases like this.Sometimes how well an image `works' is dependent on small, and often overlooked bits. "The Devil Is In The Details."I would also like to note that the background is one of the strongest elements in this shot as it creates an `otherworldly' atmosphere for the main subject. Truly a well conceived photo! Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted June 15, 2009 Keep on doing different, you have a great talent to do that, and it is also my personal preference, I have them also in my portfolio.... and this piri-piri thing you always have in the corner, is now very accurate ;) -Els Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted June 15, 2009 Dave, Thanks for stopping by again! I have to admit it was the light hitting the background that inspired me to take this image. Great minds... or is it fools seldom...? Els, I always love it when you stop by. Thanks for your continual encouragement. You make it all worth the effort! Link to comment
Elstad 8 Posted June 19, 2009 Reminds me of a Portuguese Ossuary and the sign above the door (in Portuguese of course) 'These Bones Wait for Your Bones'. I like this image very much. I would have liked to see the whole 'figure' however, tail and all. Is that an abalone shell as the background? If not, it could be in your next image in the David McCracken 'Macabre Fish Series', It could indeed ;] Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted June 19, 2009 I am not renowned for the macabre... not yet anyway. The background is simply aluminium foil. I hear what you say about the composition. Next time... I promise! Link to comment
Elstad 8 Posted June 22, 2009 Oh Yes David... After all, every man enjoys a little tail ;] and you seemingly more than most... Link to comment
