jtipton 0 Posted June 8, 2009 That's one beautiful daisy Leslie. The DOF and exposure is perfect. Warm regards-Jim Link to comment
think27 0 Posted June 8, 2009 I think the color is super and I 'get' what you were trying to do here...The muted colors in the background and the greens and yellows go nicely with this daisy. There are some serious problems here for me though. Serious enough that if it were mine, it would end up in the reject pile. Not being harsh - just honest. One - the out of focus branch (s) in fhe forground is visually distracting. I'd have moved them out of the way. Two - I do find the petals out of focus to be bothersome and distracting. This is especially true as the center - which is in focus is almost centered in the shot and the eye tends to be drawn to the whites which are in the better quadrants for an image. There is something called the "optical center" of a page. You may know this but for those that don't - it is where the eye naturally falls on a page. That is why book titles and page titles are not centered - but in the upper quad. Additionally your eye is always drawn to the brightest/whitest part of any image. So - what you have here is your eye being drawn both to the upper portion of the flower and the white - which is out of focus. - Good that it is 'slightly' over to the left - but not enough to make it work. I'd try this again but clear the foreground and your DOF. Link to comment

lesliejbng 0 Posted June 8, 2009 Thank you very much for taking the time. I am going to try this one again. I do appreciate constructive criticism, luckily this daisy is out in my backyard! I see what you are saying. I do have to say there was a breeze blowing which did not help with the positioning of the flower but the bg had me. Thanks again I truly appreciate it. Will post my second try if I am successful! Best regards, Leslie :) Link to comment

think27 0 Posted June 9, 2009 Let me know when you've uploaded a new one - I'd love to see it. I think the concept is good. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted June 9, 2009 Well, I must be really 'out of it' because my eye is drawn to the yellow centre, then to the soft DOF around the image......actually the whole image is rather 'soft' - yet I like the 'mood' it creates......not overpowering...perhaps it's the mood I'm in.....just needed to see an image that is 'soft' not overwhelming.....relaxing...that is what I find here Les...and to tell you the truth, with the kind of day I've had....you image has truly done my 'heart' good.....perhaps I'm feeling a little 'out of focus' so I can Identify with this 'lazy, hazy, daisy'....thankyou for sharing with 'me' - at least as I certainly drew a bit of 'strength' from your image......sincerely.....Gail Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted June 9, 2009 Leslie... I, too, was drawn to this image from the thumbnail and it's a very attractive concept and composition. The softness of the full size image doesn't bother me that much since it does represent the "lazy, hazy days of Summer" (sorry, I'm old enough to remember the lyrics). This is good and I'll look forward to the new image for comparison... Mike Link to comment
