little kids are cute; it's hard to go wrong with that. I like this composition. The fence on the RH side is guiding the viewer's eyes towards the subject, the DoF is good. I also like your choice of B&W. It would be nice to see # 6's face. Cheers, Micheal

Hi Tim!

I think what makes the photo work so well is that you can't see all of the faces! You don't need to!

Thanks so much for the comments! Having two boys, I'm going to have plenty of photo opportunities for sure.

Tim... Excellent shot and the b/w conversion has great tones. Sunglasses looks less than excited with the "pointers" :-)... A moment captured that will always be enjoyed... Mike

Great series Tim. My personal fav of the bunch. There's something about kids dressed in adultish uniforms that is beyond endearing. It seems when we are young we try to act older and when we are older we try and act young.

For me, it's a matter of the malaise of the facial expression and the resignation of the pose of the guy on the right and the more animated and gesturing nature of the boy on the left. There's kind of a sweet awkwardness to the way Number 6 is holding his mitt and even the almost parallel way his legs seem to be guiding him a bit off balance. The subtlety with which the light comes through the fence, placing shadows of design on the characters and working with the overall sweet illumination of the entire scene gives an overall ambiance that is quiet and engaging. There is just enough quirkiness here, for me (in posture and expression) to bring this a level of interest well beyond the "cuteness" that might otherwise have been captured.

Thanks, I agree whole-heartedly. Number 6 is decked out from head to to in his baseball gear. From the little Nike cleats, baseball pants and socks.......he's taking this so seriously and trying to instill the same seriousness into my son Avery, on the right. Avery isn't buying it. "It's just t-ball, dude" This shot really cracks me up.
