aarkp 2 Posted June 6, 2009 These children supplement their families' earnings by making cards, envelopes and other papercraft items in the campus of Manav Sadhna [ "By seeing God in every individual (manav), mere service is transformed into worship (sadhna)" ], a local non-government organization run out of Gandhi (Sabarmati) Ashram, Ahmedabad. Landrum Kelly 65 Posted June 7, 2009 Thanks for writing to ask me for a comment. Unfortunately, I cannot see it well enough to evaluate it. Please let me know when you have up-loaded a brighter version of it. --Lannie Link to comment
mauroni 0 Posted June 7, 2009 It's a nice picture Rajat, a bit underexposed but can surely be digitally brightened. The greater problem is that the dark boy details are missed. Be fine, my friend Mauro Link to comment
smigliori 0 Posted June 7, 2009 Rajat, I agree with Mauro, this is a really wonderful image but she is too dark. As always I tried to change it with few results. The JPEG version has lost too many details. Congrats. Stefano. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted June 7, 2009 this is not a bit but way too dark. Also, I could be misstaken, but it looks like you applied some heavy noise filtering as well. Anyway, as is already mentioned, it's near impossible to comment on its actual content as presented by you. It would be a nice idea to upload the original. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted June 7, 2009 given your exposure there is indeed only so much that can be done. Tried to correct some of it with some layer adjustments. Applied a bit of noise filtering too. Link to comment
Apurva Madia 0 Posted June 7, 2009 IMHO, looks better in color. BW conversion needs extra contrast. However the original image contains a great balance of colors as well as some vibrant shades. Only needs some exposure correction as already carried out by Ton! Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted June 7, 2009 Thank you to all friends for their valuable input. I appreciate their honesty. Ton, special thanks to you for the all time and effort you have devoted to assist a total stranger... A revised version is posted. A left click above will take you there. Link to comment
wieslawmamon 0 Posted June 8, 2009 you're doing quite a job here impelling other photonetians to creative effort:). I've also tried to make some adjustments to get more details out of all the darks here, the result looks similar to Ton's version but I decided to upload it even so as It has less contrast. Apart from adjustments to the entire image (curves, sharpness), I've also selected the heads of the men to work with curves so that they were more visible. This photo, which could easily be another part in your 'Working Men' folder, has a lot of potential and is worth making the most of it because the subject matter and the composition are interesting to say the least. The faces are imho very important in this shot as there are a lot of emotions on them which together with the work of the hands create an excellent story. The line that connects the heads, or to be more exact the eyes, and the hands of the working man creates a triangle, which makes the composition solid and strong. But I like the picture mainly for its sincere joy, joy found in ordinary simple work. Best regards to you -wm Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted June 8, 2009 I've been sitting on this photograph for over 3 months. A special one for me. I knew I did not have the requisite skills and knowledge to work upon it. It was only now that I felt somewhat up to the challenge. And I knew I had made enough friends on PN to get some real advice. My aim here has been to subtly control the light and reveal just sufficient details to substantiate the scene, to stress the emotion of the moment. The bonding of the two boys, oblivious to everything, quietly conversing and working. Observing them was a pleasure beyond words... I have another photograph, taken a minute or so later, that I have been working upon. I shall be uploading it shortly. The feedback I am getting on PN has been invaluable and deeply satisfying. Thanks to all of you.... Link to comment
