I was fairly satisfied with the original in color, but I think it makes for an exceptional

B&W. Thanks for any observations and let me know which you prefer! The Larger

preview is loaded with detail.

Much better at the 'Larger' size. Nice mood and b/w tone, effective use of the fence line.

Mark, the B&W choice was a good one. This one sings. It has a beautiful quality to it. I would be very happy if it were mine.

Thanks Les, Bob and Jeff. Well here we go again, Jeff. When I finished my conversion, I soaked in the full screen view for some time, trying to visualize the image as a large print matted and framed. I hate to say, but I really felt this is one of my absolute best pieces in some time. I had a stinking suspicion that if I shared it on P.N, our classmates would pooh, pooh it's merits (with the exception of a few who have an eye for art). I have come to know that flash before substance gets ratings. It is always good to hear from those that can take a real critics view at something and come away with the same impressions as mine. I think this is as 7/7 as anything in my collection. Maybe, on the other hand, we don't know diddly about what makes a good photo. I actually enjoy appreciating something that is not on a mass popularity list, makes me feel exceptional somehow. Thanks again for the comments!

Mark, I don't know where to start, other than I agree completely with your sentiments. I, for one, am delighted that you continue to post your images. I both learn from and gain great pleasure from your work. If you get around to printing this one, I would happily pay you for a copy.

This is one of the best so far that you've presented us with and frankly, what more needs to be said. Impressive work.

Thank you Vamsi and Ton. Ton, I thought this one would work for you. It really makes sense to convert this even though I am ecstatic about the color version. Thanks!

We all have our faults. We'll entice you to enter the black zone yet ;-)))

I agree with Ton. This is simply one of your best yet. The image literally glows with a full range of B&W tones. You've captured a mood here, and the viewer can almost feel like they can step into the scene. Very nicely done! I don't often prefer B&W to color, but in this instance I do. :-) BTW, congratulations on the birth of your (son??).....I read somewhere......did I remember correctly?
