pnital 36 Posted May 31, 2009 It is the balcony where Romeo and Juliet's love story took place..... It was a nice experience to visit a story which was written by W.Sakespeare between 1595-1596 . Thanks for your thoughts. Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted May 31, 2009 A famous balcony indeed. To be honest, I still get reproaches for the fact that we spent a whole day in Verona, seen a lot of wonderful tings but not the balcony...Regards, Tibi Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted May 31, 2009 I start to hear the guitar...Juliet will appear soon at the balcony...:-) Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted June 1, 2009 Pnina, very good composition and tone. Looks like any moment Juliet will appear in the balcony. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 1, 2009 Thanks all of you Tibi, you are right it is a beautiful corner, with a world famous reputation. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 1, 2009 Pnina, I love the tones and the texture, as well as the soft, even lighting. --Lannie Link to comment
davidorea 1 Posted June 1, 2009 Beautiful composition, dear Pnina. I like the forms, details and textures in this image. Now, about R & J .... I bet they fought ! I can see Romeo ... leaving... loading with the ladder after the hard discussion .... just because July prefers roses and not tulips. I bet she is raging with fury over her bed. If you were a paparazzi like Koushik Ray ...(specially in his last capture) the scene would be quite different. :) Link to comment
rivera r 0 Posted June 2, 2009 Beautiful view of the balcony, dear Pnina, I posted a pic of it, long ago on my old folder as Mari Mar... http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1346394 , it was a magic moment when I saw that balcony. Great memories. Thanks for sharing it. Link to comment

lizweisiger 0 Posted June 2, 2009 Pnina, it's so timely that you posted this image now, when I'm hearing in the news about a couple who was just married up there. I'm curious about why that is news, has this place been closed? Whatever the case, this is a beautiful tribute to Shakespeare. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 2, 2009 Lannie, thanks for your comments. David, you made me smile, as you point reality to a dramatic love story.... I'm not a paparazzy ..., and I will stay with Shakespeare's beautiful play and language ;-)) Mary, I understand you, as it is really an experience to come to that well known corner. I looked at your photo of the place taken a long time ago, and I can honestly say that your photography was well developed from that time. ;-)) still the experience and memories is what touches our soul. Dear Ektor thanks, yes it was a very nice travel. Liz, well I think that Verona ,aside for having many other attractions (The city is called "little Rome"....) is very famous exactly because of that corner, that is (so called) Juliet's house and balcony, immortalized by Shakespeare , and a wedding there might be some news attraction. You can not imagine how many ( visitors! ) love graffiti vows are all around the place, on the walls, gates, poles, and you name it....;-)) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 3, 2009 Simple yet an outstanding well exposed and of very great composition photograph of this aged place, thank you my friend for sharing it with us and wishing you all of the best. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted June 3, 2009 Such a beautiful balcony and overall scene, worthy of Shakespeare. The angle of the lens to the building gives the disturbing sensation that the building is about to fall over backwards. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 4, 2009 Rashed for your visit and writing your point of view, I appreciate it. Gord, the angle taken has a reason. The diagonal direction signified for me the end tragedy of the story, and I think is adding tension to the composition in general, in order to find my desired angle I have had to find my way in a mass of people....As the balcony is located on the second floor, I have found the location I wanted.... Thanks again. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted June 4, 2009 The building looks like it's holding its breath, preparing for the weight of the drama that will unfold on that balcony. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 4, 2009 Thanks, great to see you again. To get the Balcony for a moment to myself ( my camera of course), was a great task... so many people around, and busy balcony...... Shakespeare did a great "job" imortalizing the place. ;-)) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 5, 2009 I visited Verona several years ago and fell in love with the city, but had discovered the truth about this house back then. I don't really think it appropriate to critique your vacation pics, so I won't say anything about the photo itself. But you should be aware of this, from Wikipedia travel guide: "Juliet's House (Casa di Giulietta), Via Cappello, just off the Piazza delle Erbe. Supposedly the location of the famous balcony love scene from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The house is a major destination for tourist pilgrimage, as the tiny courtyard is normally packed with lovestruck teenagers photographing each other on the famous balcony. In fact, the house has no connection with Shakespeare's fictional characters - although the house is old, the balcony was added in 1936 and declared to be "Juliet's house" to attract tourists. You can visit the house itself (€4 entry) - it contains a sparse collection of Renaissance frescos rescued from other demolished palaces, and the bed from Zeffirelli's 1968 movie, but not a lot more. The balcony overlooks a tiny courtyard containing a statue of Juliet. There is an unbelievable amount of graffiti and general scrawling on the walls, floor, seats, anything that will hold ink - there is a tradition of writing love messages to Juliet, and visitors leave notes, trinkets and bits of chewing gum fashioned into love hearts. Juliet's house is a popular romantic shrine, but its popularity belies its value; compared to some of the treasures around Verona, Juliet's house has very little to offer." Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 5, 2009 Hi Fred, nice to see you here after a long absence ;-)) you have really entered an open door ,as I know all this .I read it and wrote some of it In the thread ( answering Liz question) I saw the house (4 Euro) and all the graffiti around . What attracted me is the phenomenon,! the Shakespeare play that made the connection to that SO CALLED her house and balcony, and human behavior around it . The massive graffiti is another human behavior that is connected to the place, and the mass of visitors that I could do a series of funny scenes there. Thanks of your visit and adding a bit more to the story. We loved what Verona offered as different eras of history and visited a lot, the Arena, castles, museums theatre( roman),( no show in the opera right now this starts in june, that was a pity) the river and the bridges, the hills , statues, piazzas gates, churches, concerts in the churches (superb concert in the romanesque church of San Zeno), castle vecchio, the duomo lake Garda and its attractions etc.. I just have started to post process my photos, the problem was a great unusual heat wave that was unusual in this time of year and made it a bit difficult, but It was worth every moment.
