Verona is well known because of the dramatic love story of Romeo and Juliet, which was immortalized by W. Sakespeare( written between 1595-1596) .The so called her house and balcony, are an attraction that no one can miss.... Her statue created by N.Costantiny is placed in the yard and is a must for people, let alone lovers.... It is said that If one touches her R breast, he/she will know eternal love.....( you can see it on the statue....)

Another version in color.....

Thanks for your impressions.

Well, Pnina, it's a very, uh, well-polished, umm, photo.

I look forward to seeing many more from your trip.

the guy's expression is really funny...theman's expression is different in both version so that a straight comparison is difficult...as you know I have a natural inclination for color but here I prefer the BW...the color version is really vivid and goes more toward documentary (which is something I also like very much)...the BW has more character due to the tone but the guy's expression would suit the color version better to my impression, on the other hand I like the compo of the BW version better as it has more space left...a funny capture to enjoy...

Did you get his email address? He should certainly have this photograph in his album. Not the color one. I prefer this. And not only because of Romeo's destroyed kiss. The disjunct of colors is too much in the other one.

Lannie, I hope you have a sense of humor. It was a surrealistic scene. Just remembering it made me smile again. The yard FULL with people ALL of them with cameras, posing near the statue, fighting to touch the statue R breast.... Hilarious.! This man kiss with one eye toward the cameras of his friends.., depicts the situation.,

Bob ;-))

Laurent, I like colors as well, so I have both versions in color and B/W, the scenes around were so funny it was hard to resist, I could have done a full hilarious series, but these are having the idea... I upload for you the colored scene.....

Rajat, he did not need me, he was with a group of friends that photographed the posed scene for him, I have just seized the moment and the sense of humor in it.

Maurizio, It is not my first time in Italy, It is always a great experience. Enjoyed Verona and Garda lake district very much ! photopgraphed a lot as well.

"Romeo

If I profane with my unworthiest hand

This holy shrine, the gentle sin is this:

My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand

To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.

Juliet

Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much,

Which mannerly devotion shows in this;

For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch,

And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss."

—Romeo and Juliet, Act I, Scene V[28]

I prefer the B & W version. I find the fellow is not a sincere lover, as he is not focused in his act.

Well seen and an expressive capture. I prefer the B/W version, since it's telling better the story you woud like to bring.

Amal, thanks for the beautiful poetry of word of the Shakespeare Play , really fits the place ,even though the man is not exactly a Romeo....;-))

I liked the B/W version as well.

Fabrizio, yes, I liked Verona very much, It is not my first time in Italy but first in Verona. Beautiful city and Lake Garda area.

Jef, I fully agree with you about the B/W version..;-))

Hi dear Pnina. I'm glad to see you back. About the photographs, I prefer the first color version. The scene in b/w with "Romeo" looking to the camera has a quite different atmosphere. More funny scene. But in aesthetics I still prefer the first color version. Best regards!

Another wonderful capture, Pnina, more beautiful memories. All the husbands were very happy touching her breast, when we went. Regards, Mari

All of you, the funny situation of the man was what attracted my attention...

David, each of us has his own point of vew, I respect it.

Mary, thanks, but what I saw is not only men touching her breast also women..;-))

I like the B&W one too, I find it sort of "artfully humorous." One thing that's striking me interesting (especially with the Shakespeare quotes a' flyin') is the implications of the star-crossed lovers played by tourists in t-shirts.

Lovely capture!

my first thought was that you were stealing a "stolen moment", but since he was posing for his friends, i guess the moment itself was not "stolen". still i like that idea, and I like the b&w best.

Tim, I agree with you and the others that the favorite is the B/W conversion, because it accentuates the details better when colors are not a factor. Still our world is composed of colors as well... So I have uploaded both..

Linda, in street photography, you many times have stolen moments... And this place is open to the public, but in this particular moment I'm sure many photographers of his group has the scene.... Thanks for writing your B/W preference

The guy staring straight into your camera spoils the image for me. Funny in a way, how the patina is worn off of that breast by all those clutching hands. I like the B&W more than the colour.

Dimitris, that was the point, not a great Romeo, in Shakespeare's surrounding...;-))

Rashed, thanks for writing your preference

Gord, thanks for all your comments, very much appreciated. What is very strong in this place aside from its reputation ,is Juliet's statue worn color on the R breast....;-)) and the funny situations around it, this is one of them that caught my sense of humor. Yes in B/W.....

Mario, B/W for you? For most of the visitors it is , myself included....
