rarmstrong 0 Posted May 30, 2009 This is the same image just posted as "Tulip" with some exposure and level adjustments. Comments appreciated, thank you! Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted May 31, 2009 Dick.... Much better! Gorgeous detail, especially from a year old flower :-)... ( I really think the 18-200 is underestimated, it does a great job at close focus.)... Mike Link to comment
aeg 0 Posted May 31, 2009 Beautiful image with wonderful soft color and contrasting BG. Regards Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted May 31, 2009 Thank you both for the nice comments! Mike, I don't know if you read Roger's comment on the first version, but I did some quick alterations and put up this one in the 2008 default frame...I guess I should delete that frame. So, today I've been out with some black construction paper and a home made foil reflector to see what I can do with this tulip. My daughter thinks I'm a little nuts:-) Have a good night! davidorea 1 Posted June 1, 2009 Exquisite composition, Richard. The beautiful tulip, the colors and the DOF are unique. Excellent close-up! Best regards! Link to comment
laiyatming 0 Posted June 1, 2009 Hi Richard, the color of this tulip looks better than your previous one. The contrast is good while the color is rich. Think you have done it globally that the background is also affected, not so pleasing as the previous one and there is a bit of noise too. The top of the center petals tips are a bit brighter and less details in there can be seen. As for the composition, I would prefer a little more of space for the facing direction of the flower, for breathing. I would also try to include the front petal within the DOF, using a smaller aperture or selecting the focus point. Nice work! Greetings from Hong Kong. Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted June 1, 2009 Thank you very much, David and Robert! The light for this shot could have been much better. Part of the problem is where this flower is located, part of the problem is our weather...cold with clouds. I could improve the lighting by cutting the flower and taking it indoors, but my wife is not in favor of that:-) Robert, I like what you have done with your Sigma 150-500 zoom. I'll be looking for more examples. Best regards, Dick Link to comment
