dougityb 0 Posted May 30, 2009 I have no idea what category this should be in, certainly notarchitecture of landscape, but they seem like the closest ones. Iguess fine art, then. ??? Anyway, this is a lamp post with four globes: three smaller onesaround a larger central one. The background is a single, whitecolumn. The white balance was set for tungsten, which cast theevening light on the column in blue. Exposing for the globes put thebackground in deep shadow. I thought this came out pretty good. gunnar1664882369 1 Posted May 31, 2009 I like the image. The contrast and light are beautiful. Interesting and original presentation. Regards. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted May 31, 2009 Pretty good! Hah! This is the very best photo ever of the Enterprise silhouetted against the quadruple star system of Beta Cygni. And everyone thought that Albireo was a simple double star before your expedition! Great work, commander. Now get out of there before you get fried. --Lannie Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted May 31, 2009 Disguised as a lamp post, no less. Which of those stars is Albireo? Thanks Gunnar. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted May 31, 2009 The one with the little arrow at lower right. Cygnus the Swan is also known as the Northern Cross. Albireo is Beta Cygni, implying that it is the second brightest star in the constellation. It is actually more like fifth. --Lannie Link to comment
