dgv 1 Posted May 30, 2009 We were sitting at an enclosed roof top restaurant, I asked the waiter if there was a starcase to the very top of the building, he was more than happy to escort me there, he asked if he could being me a drink...(service indeed). I looked around, what a magnificent sight I saw, I wished that I had my tripod with me, any way I rested the camera on my camera back rested on the ledge of the terrace and I took a few shots. When we returned to London I chose this one which was the most reasonable one. The Blue Mosque, for those who do not know, takes it's name from the blue tiles inside and it has six magnificent and slendrer minarets and cascading domes. The actual name of the Mosque is Sultanahmet Mosque named after the Sultan that commissioned it in 1609. It was built by the architect Mehmet Aga, a student of the great architect Sinan. One of the most notable features of the Blue Mosque is the six minarets. Whatever the origins of this unique feature, the six minarets caused quite a stir, as the Haram Mosque in Mecca (the holliest in the world) also had six minarets. In the end the problem was solved by adding a seventh minaret to Mecca's Mosque. Link to comment

dgv 1 Posted January 17, 2010 Thank you very much for your comment. The restaurant, if I am not mistaken, is opposite the Four season's Hotel in Mimar Mehmet street in Sultan Ahmet. I am sorry but I don't remember the name of it. I am sure it will be easy to find. Best regards Dimitris. Link to comment
