amalsircar 2 Posted May 28, 2009 David, you have created an ambiance of 'haunted' in this image superbly.,Alfred Hitchcock would have liked it very much. Composition & tone are very good. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 28, 2009 Thanks so much for the comment here and the others you made today. I kind of wondered about that water tower in the background spoiling the decrepidness of the house, but, in the end, thought it made for a bit of a contrast between that which lives and that which has ceased to live. gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 28, 2009 Dave; I like the inclusion of the electric post and the water tower, they inform us that as some things wither, the rest of the world carries on. The white fluffy clouds add a cheery note, helping to balancing out the ramshackle decrepitude of faded glory. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted May 28, 2009 isn't the sky supposed to be cloudy and look threatening for shots like this? Ha ha. I do like it. You certainly created a haunted look. Seeing the tall tower in the background, was this some chemical experiment going wrong (like a V8 OD)? Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 28, 2009 Gord: I should have blurred or distorted it somehow. Oh well, you do enough of that for the both of us. Thanks for viewing Micheal: I have to trust that you are quite expert on V8 overdosing. You must limit your intake. I've heard one of the worst side effects is lunacy..........oh no! Too late. lol Link to comment
zambaras 0 Posted May 31, 2009 Haunted, indeed. Very well done and the b&w rendering has added considerably to the ambience of this scene. Best, Nassos Link to comment

katzpjs 50 Posted June 3, 2009 How different it is to see some of your latest work where I can know that you have given more thought to the artistic view of the shot than you were doing a couple of years ago. Your framing and/or cropping is much more exact. And then I read your comments and see references being made to softening the telephone poles and they are being said by David! Then I know that I have entered the Twilight Zone. I like this shot and I would not consider obscuring the poles, wires or tower because they add to the period. I will not ask if you ventured inside of the building because only a crazy person would take such a chance. I'm positive you had more sense this time, as opposed to your wilder days in the past. jeffl7 0 Posted June 4, 2009 At least the tree is barring the way. Did you venture a foot inside? I like how the Hitchcock-like B&W amplifies the spookiness. It would simply seem run-down and sad in color. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted June 4, 2009 Thanks for viewing. This was a shoot and run. We were trying to make some time down the highway, but, nevertheless, I pulled off to check out the center of town. When I spotted this, I jumped out, left the motor running, took four quick snaps and jumped back into the car. Bet the whole deed was done in less than a minute. Who says hit and run is a crime? Given less urgency, I might have tried to get inside. But sometimes it doesn't work out. Link to comment
srichardson 0 Posted June 5, 2009 David,, Nice B/W tones. I love the old building. I see a lot of options for some more great images using this building.. Great work. Link to comment
