Duffus Rape

ian cameron

Like a broken tooth Duffus Castle sits on a green plinth of grass on open flat ground which permits photography with huge towering skies. I took this on a fine breezy day with cumulus clouds bubbling up with the castle slightly backlit which had the disadvantage of flare becoming a risk but also added gravitas to the clouds by virtue of being backlit. The culminating glory was the fortuitous appearance of a crop of yellow rape adding a gorgeous splash of vibrant colour.NEW!! Photographic workshops and masterclasses at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

I see the 3,3 fu*k wit has just been through my collection of latest images again, oh joy, what a pointless and pitiful life they must lead.

I'm glad he's visiting you too, Ian. He visits just about everything that I post these days. Those clouds are really something. They really add impact to an already high impact scene.

Ian, not your best, but still original and well composed. With regard to ratings, anyone who rates images on this site should have the courage to stand by their opinion, be it good or bad. Anon ratings mean much less than those with a name against them, unfortunately they do downgrade the overall score. And yes I too have been subjected to some (in my opinion) unworthy 3/3 ratings of late, but it is of course subjective...to a point.

I quite agree Andy not my best but a joyous picture with colour and light. It's just so bl**dy irksome when I put time and effort into presenting it on this site then within ten seconds if not simultaneous with uploading, I get what appears to be an automatic response with nothing but malicious thought put into it and apparently without a shred of joi de vive in their pitiful existence. A rating like that effectively confines it to the dustbin without even the chance of being viewed by others. I don't really care about the ratings but I do care that my work is at least seen by others so ratings are important for that reason alone. I might be able to at least feel sorry for them if they had an opinion to venture.

Lovely. Really effective use of the ND grad, and I like the asymmetries in the composition very much. The mood is wonderful and complex, like seeing a turn-off from the Yellow Brick Road that leads to one of Tolkien's fallen towers. Cheers!
