samrat 1 Posted May 27, 2009 This was shot in low light. I had some difficulty adjusting the exposure so that I could get the chair/table beneath the painting out of near-total darkness. I titled this "The Painting" for a reason...any ideas why (apart from the obvious reference to the painting on the wall)? If you reply, I'll know if I could convey my idea to the viewer. Thanks. rajnishduara 0 Posted May 27, 2009 I thought its due to "The Painting", but obviously its not. Looking into your in depth background in photography, I think you trying to recreate a painting in this shot. But this is one shot which I would like to frame and put in my bedroom. Good job. tomfawlsphotography 0 Posted May 27, 2009 but I'm definitely not the most "subtle" guy, Samrat...other than the obvious "there's a painting as the central focus of the image", I can't think of any other reason to title it as you have. Sorry. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted May 31, 2009 Samrat, very good composition & tone. I am not an expert, but I feel that there is something amiss. You have captioned the image as "The Painting". Try to highlight the details of the painting. The light glare on the right side is bit distracting. Link to comment
life-in-perspective 0 Posted June 2, 2009 Well I have taken some time to make a comment to this shot which you asked me to see. Regarding the Q you put here- frankly I am at a loss. The most likely answer to me - its a painting within a painting- for me the whole image looks like an old painting because of the tone and grains you have used. I guess its not what you intended to mean. Regarding the shot I think you have made the best use of this composition. I think the light is giving a meaning to this composition and not disturbing- without the light this composition would have become flat. Best regards. Link to comment
