Matt Laur 2,201 Posted May 25, 2009 The element of surpise allowed me to get this shot at 20mm. Some storm clouds were rolling in, and bringing some interesting mottled light with them. Thanks for visiting. Link to comment

Matt Laur 2,201 Posted May 25, 2009 Thanks, guys. I know this isn't the most handsome of subjects, but I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Link to comment
fischerphotos 0 Posted May 28, 2009 Great Shot Matt! The colors and composition are just superb! I really like the slight vignetting around the edges, it really makes your subject stand out. I also commend you on how close you got. 20mm!!!!! The turkeys here would never let you get that close. Anywyas, Congrats! Link to comment

tonmestrom 4 Posted June 30, 2009 since you're out in the weeds a lot as well I'm not surprised by your encounter. It's of course the colours that make this one pop. He may not be a handsome guy but you sure did your best to show his handsome side ;-) Wonder though if he ended up on your plate? Link to comment
dougrice 0 Posted October 22, 2010 How the heck can ANYONE get close enough to a turkey to use a wide angle lens?Nice job Matt! Link to comment
Matt Laur 2,201 Posted October 23, 2010 Good question, Doug. He was young and not very smart, I think! But he lived to pose again another day. Link to comment
jim_j2 9 Posted December 31, 2010 Hi Matt,Saw this one at the bottom of one of the threads this morning and it caught my eye. I admit though I was surprised at the Photographer's name attached to it, and it not being of the Canine subject! You were fortunate to catch this young one and to be able to use the wide angle!Just last weekend (Christmas) I was visiting my folks down in Oklahoma, and took my Mother on a sight seeing excursion through one of the State Parks that is loaded with somewhat people tame wildlife (Deer, Turkey, Fox, etc.) . We ran across about 20-30 Turkeys with a couple of Gobbler's. And, although my Mother has seen wild Turkeys around our country residences in the past, she had never seen one in good light at the right time to notice all the colors, and was amazed at the different colors. When I visit, she enjoys sitting with me at the computer and exploring through PN, so I'll have this one in My Favorite's folder for my next visit!Very nice shot with great lighting, details and sharpness!Regards,Jim j.
