Rick, this one I like very much The only fault is that it is a bit too small. I would have liked to see a larger format edition .Ciao Anna

Digital Alterations...You either love them or you hate them. I am a

graphic designer by trade and a photographer by hobby. I enjoy mixing

the two mediums to create surreal and unreal imagery. This is one of

my late night, 3:00am creations called Phobia. I would enjoy your

comments and critique.

Yes, that is where this image started. Where it ended up is something completely different. I understand by now, that the traditionalists do not like this type of work. I, however, like to stretch the limits of what can be done with photography in the digital world...Look around my portfolio, you will see I also like some of the traditional stuff too. I like images that intrigue my senses both real and surreal.

I have a bit of phobia for digital manipulation, but this is a cool image - a real attention grabber. My compliments.

I feel sadness for what appears to be a very terrified and/or lost soul. The blue is fitting and the shadowed left eye (right side) is mysterious and dark.

Creativity is creativity,,,, no matter how you feel about manipulating images... and this is VERY creative Rick.

Isn't that what Art is about; being creative and stretching (pardon the pun) ourselves? I suspect when Picaso first showed his work it was not thought to be traditional art. So...keep up the good works Rick and let's all be open to the new AND the traditional...

Nuff Said! Regina

Anna already warned me. I invite you to look at the rest of my portfolio where you will find some examples of traditional methods.

Great destination from your point of departure. I use Leica M and Canon EOS, have PS-7 on a MAC and silver prints on the wall. I love it all when it is done well, you have succeeded!

"Pierre Soulages' colors thrown in a mixer and seen from an air-plane with an 8000mm lens"

Sorry for the joke, Rick, couldn't resist it... No disrespect meant. Now, this being said, it does look good. Maybe there's a little thing I would suggest to improve: the transition between the bright and the dark part could maybe be a bit smoother. I was also wondering whether the dark area could afford to be just a little brighter - while still remaining darker than the left side... Well, food for thought, just a little input here... Best regards.

I find the end result a little cartoonish. It could be a frame out of "Dumbo" where he's hiding somewhere at night. The "eyes" don't resemble those of any human I know. Or animal either, for that matter. Even the title is a bit disneyish, in that it tells you the appropriate emotion, which the colour hints at also.Besides, I'm not sure the, um, expression doesn't indicate "worried", or even "bemused".

Progression from the raw data is good; I appreciate the creativity. The tones convey the feeling, but I can't get past the slight caricature/ cartoon appearance of the "face."

I wonder whether you thought about a slight alleviation of the colour, perhaps a gradient filter that gets some yellow on the right side - pulled from top right to bottom left. A little texture might also be good.

Fun - could see it printed with thick inks - as if it were painting. Don't know why - but thick comes to mind when I view this image.
