jean-jacques 0 Posted May 22, 2009 Hi David. Nice shoot, beatiful model, nice idea for a sexy and glamour ambiance full colors, perfect lighting. Friendly. Jean-Jacques. Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted May 22, 2009 Very Nice Work David! This is a wonderfully creative piece, with a style all it's own. Your choice of model, colors and lighting are spot on. Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted May 23, 2009 A very interesting image with some mystery added. I like the way the scarf drapes on her body. The color of her lips really jumps out from her skin tone. I'm curious if you colored the visible nipple or is it just the result of overall color correction? It might have also been interesting to see what the tattoo said. Link to comment
JPPhoto1664880217 4 Posted May 23, 2009 Very creative. The use of color as an element of form works very well here. Kudos to both you and the model. JIm Phelps Link to comment

owen_omeara 1 Posted May 23, 2009 Truly beautiful lad. It should grace the pages of every decent fashion magazine in print, The colors work with her skin tone and lipstick and the draping of the fabric is truly wonderful. Bravo. PS. I love the letter 5 on her right chest, or is it an 8? -Owen Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 23, 2009 My friend, I like to learn from you how to have such control over lighting dealing with such models, this is superbly lit and an image which would be enjoyed by any one viewing it, thank you for sharing it and I wish you all of the best my friend Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted May 24, 2009 Adam, Thanks for the look and comment. I wasn't sure how well this one would be received but it seems to have been received rather well. Dave, It seems you are right. I am very happy with the response. Thanks! Mark, How observant you are! The hair, scarf, lips and nipple are pretty much the colour as shot. It is the skin tone that has been altered. As I said earlier I wasn't sure how well it would be received. I have given a couple of my portraits the same treatment and they were quite well received too. Perhaps I am on to something. I forget what the tattoo says. Thanks a lot. Jim, I am glad you like this. Thanks a lot. Keith, The 'colouring' does seem to be a hit. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Owen, It is always good to know you like an image of mine. I doubt it will be gracing any magazines but it is nice to think it has that potential. The character you are seeing is an 'S.' Rasheed, The lighting is quite simple. I think it is the partial desaturation of the skin that gives this image the effect that so many like. I am glad you like it too and I am grateful for your kind words. Thanks a lot everyone. markboyer 0 Posted May 24, 2009 Excellent image. I would never have guessed at the skin desaturation, but everything here is excellent, including the emotional effect. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted May 24, 2009 The skin desaturation is not meant to be noticed. The fact that you wouldn't have guessed is quite a compliment. Thanks a lot. I always appreciate your input. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 27, 2009 I agree with Owen about the colours, but now I guess I'm going to have to be sort of a fly in the ointment here. I'm not sure if your intent was to do a bit of softening here, but for me the layer work or the effect is a bit too obvious...showing up as a sort of halo effect along the edges of the model's body...most noticeable to me around her arms and along her back. I like the idea of the scarf as a blindfold, but as a personal preference, I'd have draped it differently in order to show more or all of the tattoo. I like tattoos because I feel they often give a photograph a bit more of a visual punch. Although showing only part of the tattoo adds a bit of mystery, I'd still prefer to see all of it. All of this is entirely subjective, of course, and might come across as one of those "If-I'd-shot-this-I'd-do-so-and-so" critiques. That's not my intent, because I love the model, love the pose, and love the concept...I just know you can do better, and I encourage you to experiment more with this particular post-shoot processing technique. davidmccracken 2 Posted May 27, 2009 Thanks for stopping by. I have to agree with you that the layer effect is too obvious. However, I would point out that it is intentional. Whether it is good or not is another matter. Indeed, whether I could have done better or not is yet another kettle of fish! I often say to people, if you like an image yourself, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Some of the photos I upload I don't like, however, I upload them to see what others think. For what it is worth, I actually like this. I can understand why you don't like it and I thank you for taking the time to tell me why. A few of my recent uploads have had a similar treatment. You did comment on one of them but I guess the colouring made the halo less obvious! photo_id=9217692 photo_id=9146081 photo_id=9171407 Thanks Jim! My next upload will be something totally different for me. It will be a black and white landscape snapshot. I don't know if you will like it or not but I will dedicate it to you anyway! Guest Guest Posted May 28, 2009 " I have to agree with you that the layer effect is too obvious. However, I would point out that it is intentional.Believe it or not, I actually thought about that after I'd commented. Something along the lines of "I wonder if David was trying for a halo effect." And I've seen it done many times, of course. In this photograph, it just seemed to be something I didn't expect from you, mostly because the majority of your work features sharpness and crisp detail. davidmccracken 2 Posted May 28, 2009 Kind words but I don't think I am in your league for sharpness! I will endeavour. Thanks as always! Link to comment
