Indeed, a woodpecker with a wonderful red cap. I can just imagine that head pivoting forward to allow the beak to hammer at the tree trunk. All of that implied motion needs space to allow our imagining it. I think, perhaps, here you have placed that soon-to-be-active head too close to the top margin. Implied motion needs space in the composition.

Also a vertical crop would work much better. You have bark of tree on the left and right side background space that are not doing too much for the image.
