Great photo, tell me the camera model you use beacause the mine is unable to take this picture, or pherhaps it isn´t a photo....... if it is the case why you don´t separate the arm to not overlap the face and do not give a good looking direction to the glance, sorry but for me this it is just a fake, i have nothing against you but i´m very desapointed with the poor culture on this website, my inglish is very limited so i have a poor culture too, but i can discern Art between garbage. learn to take real photos and don´t loose your time with this this kind of cheap overvaluaed imagery, it is my friendly advice. You request critique so it is my honest opinion, if i can´t be honest the web still loosing credibility.

I like the concept...and think it was well executed...

If I had to pick something...if the background were a bit more blurred and the model were a bit sharper it might have a more realistic feel....Just an opinion of course....

Congrats on thinkin' outside the box

@all, thanks for viewing and rating:-)

@Jeffrey, thanks for the proposal, I will contact you by mail.

@Fernando, lucky we don't make all the same images, it would be boring.

There's a "digital alternation" section on PN, if you don't like it, well don't look at it.

Many have an other opinion and I can't complain, because this "garbage" is edited worldwide.

Are yours?

Best regards,

Ben

You don't have the right to say "garbage" to any work in this site, it's not a constructive critique, you may like it or not, this is in a different category so must be evaluated in that manner. I liked the work even though it's not my type of taste. At least we should respect to the effort.

Hi Ben, i´m not saying that i´m better than you. It is just i really don´t like has you pointed well. I don´t think this material could be sell to anybody, there are thru painters around the world doing great painting works and they don´t sell nothing, about the culture of the web i´m sure i´m right, look at the comments, someone has said that is an excelent exposure. anyway best wish for you and kinds regards it is nothing personal in my comment, i have not renoved my subscription to this web site, i´m clearly against the style of the web.

Pherhaps it should be good to separate digital art from photografy and another rating metodology or even better not to allow to rate, has you can see i have not rated your work in another hand i have take a look to your portofolio and i have seen some intersting good digital art idea on it, the most i don´t like is manipulations and fake works, digital art for me could work if it is well done and if you print a visual message on it even better,

I know what i´m saying i have worked with greats pro some of them are exposed in The Natural science museum of London, i´m not pro just beacause i don´t want i´m really too lazy for it :) and i can gain more money doing other jobs working less than my pro photografer friends.

thanks for answering my comment.

Best wishes again for you and yours.

Your image is very imaginative and very well executed. Who said that photography should not extend beyond the medium of the camera. Afterall is a camera not just a tool that we use to capture light. It is the imagination that is the creativity, and the magic. That said, I'm now going to look at the rest of your port folio, and if its anything like this one, then I'll enjoy it very much. Thakyou for sharing your work, and good luck with the book.

@Fernando: no heart feelings, I understand your opinion, you are not the only one.

All elements of this and other montages are based on photographic shootings, which is not new f.e: Jery Eulsman, Mann Ray and others...

During my professional life as Art Director, I expected the same fantasy from the best creative photographer in my country. First they did it without PS, later they were obliged to use it or out of work. What I do now for my hobby, is a logic follow from what I did professional, only with a very low budget. Making one shot photography, which I can appreciate, doesn't interest me a lot, even I had a traditional photographic education in art school.

@Tim: thanks. You are open minded:-))

@Chirstoffer: indeed they are fare from perfect:-(( ... I try !!!

Have look at the PF of a German friend Pavel Kaplun on PN or Uli Steiger http://www.dielichtgestalten.de/index.html or Thomas Herbrich http://www.herbrich.com/ ... the have my total respect and I wish, I had there possibilities and budget.

In Belgium I'm asked to give PS workshops for professional- and amateur photographers: how to be creative in a simple way with PS and to be different from other photographers...

I think, it was rather successful.

Training video's is not in my possibilities, to old for this (63).

But, I'm always ready to give some tips/advices if needed.

Best regards,

Ben

First of all I want to tell you how happy I am to have found your fantastic photographs. I`m rather lost for words, cause I have found a new dimension in photography turned into a beautiful artform. Your work is brilliant and your creativity is amazing. I have read about your background and I`m so happy that you are doing this and present it on the PN. When I view The land of antopictica (2) I find it very moving but also very, very beautiful. It will be a favorite of mine.

The way you are working with the colours, the light and the dark and the textures just make me want to cry of happiness. You are my inspiration! Thank you so very much Ben for sharing and presenting your great art for all of us. Take good care and all the best from Jannica

Color and tone handling are of course strong, but above all its your endless creativity which makes your work outstanding. And of course one will have allways have pro's and con's, but creativity is what makes art interesting for me.

I strongly disagree with Fernando Monreal. I have learned a lot from photographers like you. This image shows a tremendous amount of imagination and skill. Art is very personal, and to each his own. But like you said, this website is large enough for everyone. Negative critiques can sometimes be more helpful than the positive ones, but critical insults just come across as a waste of everyones time. I look forward to seeing what you will share next. 7/7
