Thank you all my dear ladies and gentlemen!

You all say this is disturbing picture! What would you say if I told you that this picture was taken in the northern necropolis of the ancient Roman garrison city of Skupi, far away from any human settlement and that I used to go there on full moon to find my peace there? All alone in a large excavation surrounded by graves and the spirits all around, touching the graves to feel and to communicate with the souls?

The Spirit Of The Stone

I don't find this photo disturbing at all Pierre....very well done....I often visit old cemetaries...take pics of the tombstones...find it very thought provoking...who were these people/cause of their demise?(tragic or peaceful)..."if these stones could only "talk", I wonder what they would say?" The spirit in your "Stone" seems to want to break through the confines of its' 'cement prison'. Rome is the most fascinating city I have visited, one day, I hope to return..so much history; a city like non other; one where I for one felt 'drawn' by its' ruins...finally 'experiencing' ancient history as my hands felt the 'worn' imprint chariots had left behind so many years ago. Great effect in this photo! Congrats!!

Hello Pierre, very nice and the men on the stone makes me think of your photo, this might be why you feel peace :) Nice texture and well photographed. Like John Peri, I find nothing disturbing about it and about graveyards. It is just one place where we can find peace and quiet. We all need that to replenish.

Well done :) Cheers.

Pierre, this is a fascinating image. I love the effects and I enjoy thinking about the "spirit of the stone".

I must say that this, IMHO, is the most compelling work you have produced since I have been on PN. The stone itself has a myriad of qualities that are conveyed by the photograph - the dignity that comes with age, among them. The image is not all disturbing. To the contrary it is enlightening; it reminds us that "reality" is not necessarily all there is. As for me, I find spirituality in everything I experience. This photograph is something I need to study.

As inadequate as this may be, I offer my congratulations.

interesting superposition, like a spirit in a cemetery, would fit into your folder on backgrounds

Great imagination and creativity!! This goes beyond photography - it is art in the real sense. It is wonderful to gain insight into your soul via your creations. Regards Dave

Very impressive. Is it the spirit of the stone of the spirit of the deceased? If it is the last one a cemetry will become indeed a little ghostly. Beautiful artistic work. Best regards.
