Hi Gail...... thanks for your visit and kind comment. I was about 30 yards away. He was the "tail end charlie" of a large herd that was heading to a waterhole. After this shot, we moved ahead of the herd and waited for them at the waterhole. Great experience.

An excellent shot with the colors of Africa and fine detail.  I see Charlie was at least hurrying to catch up and the slight blur of his feet and tail illustrate that.... Mike

What an Excellent running elephant capture with our typical african dry grass. This must have been taken in winter months or is it still so dry there?

Johanna - this was taken in early September (08) just before the start of the summer rains... so Yes, it was very dry in the Pilanesberg.
