Independance Day

ian cameron

Realising something very dramatic was happening with the sky outside our house at around sunset I hurriedly packed my bags and headed for our nearest beach, Findhorn. I was amazed to see a total re-enactment of Independance Day, clearly an alien craft with occupants of immeasurably superior intellect were landing on our beach. The otherworldly experience was completed by a couple of totally irrational thugs who seemed intent on beating me up and hurling rocks at both me and my camera, I guess the aliens rejected them on the grounds of low intellect, pity.Anyway this was the only frame I got. NEW!! Photography workshops and masterclasses at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

A close encounter not only did a space ship land on Findhorn beach but

I was attacked by two neanderthals just for being there with threats

menaces and thereafter with rocks and stones. Pity the aliens didn't

use them as specimens but then again they'd probably have been

rejected on the grounds of low intellect.

This is 100% my sort of picture, i don't say that often, great colours, mood and God Rays, can't fault it top marks. When light shines like that it can't for me be beaten.

I like your humorous comments Ian.I suppose the advanced technology of the aliens will find a way to steal this photo as a magnificent souvenir of the Earth.Better hide away in case they seek the photographer too.Excellent work with superb contrast.Regards

It seems to me that your humour is, perhaps, masking a nasty incident that happened to you on this beach. What went on? I am very pleased that you appear to be unscathed.

Be careful, there are lots of idiots about and no picture is worth putting yourself at risk for.

AWESOME work Ian...this is really nice. The only thing it is missing to be perfect is seeing this beauty on Timecatcher :)... keep up the good work you always bring constant top quality images.

Hello Roy

It could have been nasty as I suspect the two apes were high on drugs rather than alcohol. To be honest Findhorn beach is a very family oriented place in a very gentle part of Scotland away from cities, I would put it on a par with my back garden in terms of risk factor. Their behaviour was quite irrational and frankly unbelievable. One of them started roaring at me "get off my beach" (its a public beach) and then they both ran over and one of them slapped me round the back of the head and then demanded to fight me. After explaining to them that I had no wish to fight, I began packing my stuff away, rather hurriedly, they retreated 20 yards, hurling abuse at me and then they started throwing stones and rocks the size of tennis balls at me most of which I dodged save one that struck me on the leg. This continued for a good few minutes all the time they were urging me to fight with them, they ran at me a few more times before jumping into a car and then followed me up the road hurling more abuse and threats.

They really were exceptionally brave, it must have felt really good threatening a 47 year old man with a tripod and a camera. I reported the incident to the Police. As it happens I can actually take care of myself fairly well, I'm an ex-copper but one of them indicated he had a knife and I certainly wasn't about to put myself and my equipment at further risk for these clowns.

This is the one shot I got before it all started, pity it was stunning and I have been back several times since in the following days without similar incident occurring..

Brilliant shot Ian, be careful out there as similar thing happened to me in Dorset..... as you say, having a heavy tripod has its advantages.

I read the accounts of the Findhorn Garden back in the 1980's and really had no idea it was this beautiful.

Wow, that so very nice the beams of light and the curve and texture of the beech.

A very fine Image and is going directly into my favorites!

Super Nice!

Hi Ian! This really is spectacular. The first time I heard about Findhorn was way back in the seventies when a friend spent a few weeks at the Findhorn Federation's village. It was a very spiritual experience for her. So, I have this image of Findhorn being a very peaceful, meditative place, and your image has a spiritual feel to it. Must be the light rays radiating from the sun above the clouds. So, your story is really shocking, beyond the viciousness. I am glad you got this beautiful image out of such a ugly, frightening experience. All the best.

Absolutely fantastic light Ian. Love the pattern in the mud. Crazy story. Nothing that scary has happened to me while shooting, thankfully.

You made the most of "right time...right place". Great composition and exposure. Well done.

I suppose you had a really bad time at this place with those two neandertah men, Ian. Even so, the image is exceptional and perhaps the shot worth it; ¿don't you think so? Probably you only have a bad remember of that place, nothing more ... It's a stunning image. Best regards. Eugenio.

This is one heck of a shot. Beautifully executed. It looks like the sun is pouring the water down into the sea. Wonderful. Regards. Taha
