Fishermang 0 Posted May 11, 2009 I had wished for a better foreground, as the left bottom corner is sort of shapeless with too much detail in it, and the same goes for the dark spot on the right side of the foreground. But I can't rebuild what nature has planted, can I? The rest of the landscape is to my liking, and I refuse to always follow typical landscape photography rules, and I enjoy capturing and showing the landscape I saw right there right then. This was after some rain and hail. Link to comment
melloncollie 0 Posted May 11, 2009 i like very much the tones and processing. it is a very beautiful and pleasant image but the whole subject/scenery is not enough interesting or maybe just the elements didnt function together to transform the whole image into a stunning photo. anyway, it is a nice place, probably it was nice to be there, and i think you succeeded to show what you felt there. in the given place and situation is well done. thanks for sharing. Guest Guest Posted May 11, 2009 You do follow typical landscape rules. The trail of rock, the curve of the ridge, and the contours of the pine in foreground approximate a traditional S-curve which adds depth to your composition. The uninflected space is the field at middle right, which is static owing to the horizontal line and tends to stop the movement. An element here would have been helpful, but as you've noted, you can't have everything. The cloudscape is dramatic, and the mass in the middle adds a counterpoint to your diagonal of shrubs from right foreground to left horizon. Link to comment
davidspeight 0 Posted May 12, 2009 I think your critique of your image is a bit harsh. Its a good composition to my eyes with the line of stones leading into the frame and just enough interest with the tree in the middle ground and finally the fiery clouds in the sky. Nice exposure and sharpness throughout as well. All the best, Dave. Link to comment
dr dan 0 Posted May 12, 2009 Very pleasing image. As for following rules -bottom line is that the image is balanced and leads the eye through the individual elements. -Dan Link to comment
