godfather 0 Posted May 11, 2009 It seems like that the real life isn't any fun but the life beyond that wall looks much funnier. But in the other hand i might be missing the true point behind it ;D Street isn't my genre but this started to haunt my mind. If you care to reveal, i would like to know your reasons on doing this? mazevedo 0 Posted May 11, 2009 Looks like a variation of a triptych, consider the two frames bellow and the one (1+1=1) above. Was this intentional? All the best,--MAA Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 11, 2009 B.C, Kaushik Tero and Mario Thanks for asking, it is not a triptych..It is one frame ! Taken quite sometime ago in a commercial center in Tel Aviv , the melange of the upper and lower parts were very unusual( same building ). Sometimes reality has more imagination than an invented one... I think the idea is to develop your ability it see and identify , I see it as an important point which I work all the time to develop. As it is a street frame, what you see on the lower R side is a store , what is written is: if you buy two items you get a better price. The upper R/L parts, is some institute by the name of "Mela" I looked at the figure( on the very R end) , but could not find an explanation. The poster of what looked like an Indian girl on the lower L was another store as far as I can remember, (or another part of the R one). So it is a street composition ,one frame..I hope it explains your questions. Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted May 12, 2009 Interesting incongruities. I wonder what you have cropped at bottom...something is visible at the base of the tree trunk. The basket strapped to the girl's head is of the kind used in the hills for gathering fruit. If it had had a closer mesh I would have said tea... Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 12, 2009 Thanks. The lower part was something that was supperting the tree, I deleted it and framed this photo (which I stopped doing to my photos) as I think it needs in this one, but changes take time to show on PN.... The girl is a poster so thats how the BG of it looked. The incongruity of that surrounding was what interested me. ;-)) Link to comment
davidorea 0 Posted May 12, 2009 Excellent street capture in b/w, dear Pnina. The scene and details are great. Very good shot. Regards! Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted May 12, 2009 This really looks like something I'd be tempted to photograph myself. It has the feeling of an everyday collage, the human important only as a design element in his quadrant of the composition. I am edging back into photonet after a much-needed time-out. I don't know if I've solved any of my artistic and creative dilemmas but it was getting to the point where I could hardly breathe. I had to circle the wagons and keep my head down for a time while all my howling demons rode by on their spotted ponies. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 13, 2009 I'm very fond of this. The difference in tonality and contrast between the right and left sides is remarkable as they somehow meshed with their content. Even the tree is more bright and contrasty on the right where commerce is clearly king. An amazing capture. Cheers. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted May 13, 2009 Pnina, an amazing street shot, which looks like a collage, but is not. You have sharp eyes. The tree plays an important role in making four segments and the tone is very good. SHALOM! Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted May 13, 2009 I like this interestig natural 4-panel shot. One photo that seems to break in 4 frames, each frame having their own street elements to exist on its own. I like it. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 13, 2009 David, thanks for all your comment and feedback. Relly appreciate it. Jack , I think that dilemmas never end! In life and in creative photography as well ( How well I understand you! ). But still you are too good to loose , and I hope your pause ended, and you will slowly come back to let us enjoy your, eye, spirit, observation, poetry of mundane life. I always enjoy your visits here and mine at your work. Take care ! Dave, what a pleasure to see you here, I'm glad you like it, I hope you are well. Nice to see you and Jack on the same street work. I hope to see you active again too ! What is new with your projects? Amal, you are always supportive, shalom, to you and your family You have done a long good way in photography from the time we first met ;-)) Cherlyn, thanks as well, I'm pleased you liked it, we are also a long time following each other work ;-)) Link to comment
lizweisiger 0 Posted May 13, 2009 Pnina, I really took some time to study this image. At first, I thought it was 4 separate panels, and I was trying to figure out their connection. Then I realized the tree branch fit naturally. This is a study, interesting elements which tell stories. Very different and fun to view. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 14, 2009 Thanks Liz and Haydar, Liz, those ellements juxtaposition were very unusual as you say, and this was my trigger.... Link to comment
life-in-perspective 0 Posted May 14, 2009 A really interesting composition Pnina. It looks like four blocks. Well seen. Regards. Link to comment
andrea-de-bonis 6 Posted May 15, 2009 is a very interesting composition, a real street, and shows something we have everyday around us, but without a camera is difficult to see. We walk between differents activities, and whem someone shows this we are surprised.... also the three is fantastic, i dont know if you saw it shooting, but it seems to help us in understing the different scenes. Pnina, i think -maybe is my screen of course - that the bw could be better. the left side is a little bit flat, and the right not at all. also the tree seems a little pale, when it had to be strong. sorry, but i say this my opinion becouse is a very rich photo that perhaps could become more.... gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 15, 2009 The organic division imposed by that little tree upon this otherwise man made world is important to me when considering this photo. As noted by Dave, the tonality of the scene is markedly different on either side of that line which works well to divide the frame and halt the eyes travel. I agree with Andrea that there is a lot more that could be done with this image in terms of black & white conversion to bring more life into the scene. I also agree that this being an extremely good photograph it would be well worth any extra effort. Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted May 15, 2009 This is an outstanding composition Pnina. The poster, building, and street scene combine to make a superb shot. You have an excellent eye.All the best,Neil Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 15, 2009 Sonali thanks for your feedback Andrea and Gord Thanks both of you for a wide interesting point of view and critique of what you find good and what you think needs more work on B/W conversion. My dilemma was how to accentuate the differences of the parts. Reading your mutual point of view about the post processing I have tried to rework it to enhance the photo with a different approach. I 'm uploading the reworked photo , and would like your taking the time to let me know what you think of the new version. I try to develop my B/W conversion knowledge. Thank you very much for your integrity. I think that this is the right way of writing a critique, and follow up. Neil, thanks for your kind feedback and visit. Link to comment
andrea-de-bonis 6 Posted May 15, 2009 i think is better. i have tryied an other version, a little bit exagered, justt for explaining... you know, when i like a photo i like to pass some moment with it, this is the reason, sorry.... Link to comment
