Lovely! 7/7

PDE, you got this one right! Very beautiful and sensitively done. I really like the placement of Mimi at the apex of the buildings; everything flows very nicely. I like the duotone (it is duotone, isn't it?) toning. What a beautiful portrait! Cheers to You! The Caliph

So? Regards, Torfinn.

Well done! Original composition! Ciao Sergio

Welcome my friends and thank you very much!

Caliph Sir, I don't use duotone, don't know how to use it, have tried though! The sepia effect, as my so far experience tells me is very precisely and easily done if you just turn the format to RGB and adjust the color balance! In most of the cases it's enough to choose the dark tones and move the upper slider to the right, sometimes to the left the lowest one, as much as it takes!

I'm glad you all liked this picture for it is dear to me! The environment and the model as well as my first successful experimenting with something like painting effects!

The environment is what once was the whole wide world to a four years old kid! The model is a teacher of painting, my daughter's, not mine, and a very dear person!

Thank you for helping this picture to have a decent average in ratings as I think it deserves! Thera are two Googies on it!

Pierre, very well done, how did you do this effect. Regards Rich.

Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , July 20, 2007; 01:27 P.M. (edit | delete)

Hey Riccardo!

It was easy done, two clicks! But the erasing of the cables, wires, air conditioners, people, the selecting of the sky and darkening...that was the real job!

Filters>artistic>plastic wrap! Two times pointing and two clicks! Yeah, the adjusting of the tool is important, I always choose low brightening and others also low, and if it isn't enough I apply the effect once or twice more! When you once choose and adjust the tool, then you only press Ctrl + F to repeat it with same values! The sepia is also easily done! Color balance>upper slider to the right as much as it takes (you can see the changes in the same time you slide)! But the color balance doesn't work in the greyscale, so you must turn it to RGB format first, if it has been greyscale, that is!

Classes dismissed, ha!

Thank you for the big ones, by the way! You earned the lesson! Ha!

Hi PDE,

Mimi looks very elegant and fragile just like my lilies.. If this is what you' re talking about, you' re right... Otherwise does she look like me??? :) Best wishes, EN.

Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , July 20, 2007; 04:28 P.M. (edit | delete)

Ebru, thank you for coming so soon!

and for exploring Mimi thoroughly! But you should have explored the picture! If you come to see this again, try with the houses! I think they should be familiar to you for they are old Turkish architecture in my second home town! At least I always thought so! But when I was in Turkey, couple of times I didn't see houses like these!I now wonder are they Turkish at all!

Digitally good! Nice technique and thanks for sharing the lesson.

A lot of bears around Sir, but no URLs!

I will follow your trace then Sir, Caliph Sir! Thank you for the @ bear!

Giuseppe, non ti piace la ragazza, non ti piace la citta, solo la lezione ti piaceva?!

Here's an example of my telepathy: The girl on the picture is now a woman, long time ago as a matter of fact, and we lost contact with her! But it happened so that I printed a picture of her two days ago! Yesterday I asked my wife can we find her easily, IE, does she now where is she now! She didn't know! We took a bike ride to the city park today and we saw her there, with her cute two months old new baby! How about that?! And it happens all the time to me!

And I think lessons are not being shared! Lessons are being given, most likely! In this case exchanged though! I was given a lesson by Richard The Lion's Heart few days ago, and since he ordered one here - I gave it to him! Are all those who also read it stealing it, then?! Here's the catch 22 - they are not! And I did share it, because if I didn't want others but Riccardo to receive it, I should have mailed it only to him! And why not the term giving away used?! Simply because the facts from it are still in the contents between my ears! So, you're right as always - I was sharing a lesson! Interesting, I didn't ever use the term sharing in my life! There was only giving and taking for me! Just thinking and practicing English Giuseppe! English language as well as English understanding of things!

Thank you for sharing, you American you, ha!

Maybe you think I'm a damn fool after reading this! No sir! I'm just crazy, ha! And to tell you the truth: I was giving all my life and those to whom I was giving didn't ever say thank you, thank you for sharing or in other way expressed gratitude! No sir, they were only spitting on me in return! Almost three years ago I hit my head hard on the asphalt (a guy was sharing his vehicle with me, ha) and everything came up to me clearly! Since then I'm only taking (back) and spitting on all of them shitlanders! It feels much better!

Cheers to the asphalt who shared his wisdom with me!

Oh I forgot. The composition itself is very nice to look at! Cheers to that!

This is very good! I am not good at photoshop at all, but I am just wondering about her jersey / knitted top. The colours are kind of 'merging' in with the paving. What about making it a bit darker / lighter to make it stand out more? As I said, its a humble comment. (PS: She has such a beautiful face!)

Very interesting background, good idea. Regards

Dear Pierre

Interesting tone and composition.

Micki F. [subscriber] , July 28, 2007; 03:27 P.M.

I love the way you used the BUBBLE WRAP technique on this one

I love playing with it myself and have done so many times just for fun and sometimes for affects.

I like the way you have put this wonderful girl in front of it as she stares so piercing through the picture into my eyes. That smile (not unlike my daughters smile) of knowing where she is and where she wants to go is perfect for this picture. THe crossroads of the picture and there she is.

Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , July 28, 2007; 07:13 P.M. (edit | delete)

Biswajit and Micki...

...I'm so happy to have your attention!

Micki, I think I replied on THIS comment to you on some other page, ha! I'm all mixed up! Yes, the bubbles and the poetry!

When I think it over, this picture about, I am finding it's about my childhood! First of all it is the environment out of our house walls! The old bazaar! And that is my mother on the picture! I saw that clearly for the first time! I saw Mimi couple a days ago with her cute two months old baby and noticed she had blue eyes! Now I see she's in the role of my mother on this picture!

It's a warning for us who do pictures that even we don't see everything on time!

Love this portrait, Pierre.... It is really a piece of art!

Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , August 05, 2007; 02:44 A.M. (edit | delete)

Yes, it is!

But people don't like me to be on the top photos pages and don't even rate it!

Such is life!

Very remarkable work, Pierre, I like it! Best regards from NL, Ruud.

Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , August 07, 2007; 06:26 A.M. (edit | delete)

Ruud!!!

Ruud you really had to add that car abbreviation for me! So long time no see! Are you well? I really rarely go out of my place, but when I do I use the contributed recent method, so all my friends are arrayed in requested critique for array! The fact I haven't visited you is therefore due to your absence from the bloody critique forum!

I hope you're back now, I mean definitely back!

Pierre, I love seeing what your imagination and computer skills now have produced of fantasy world. I see them as your efforts to produce a "better world". It's needed ! However, I'm often not in line with your aesthetics and especially your play of colours disturbs my eye.

This one I appreciate highly (no colours but sepia..). In my head I see here

The overall composition is great Pierre, even the odd color selection works fine, but i think that the background would be better without the processing you have applied to it. Do you still have the original image of the background? I think it worths trying it again.

Hi, Michail!

You don't want to see the original, it was awful and after I did the repair I had to apply another sky and some filter to cover the impossibility of saving it as a real photo! Here is one version of filter which don't look like this one, like chocolate!

Thank you for your visit and comment (s)!
