Worthwhile to show an 'relaxing' moment, Jeff. Hope you have many of them - you deserve it - definitely! Take care and thanks for sharing,El

I took this in May just before I returned home from my tour in

Afghanistan. This Afghan soldier was part of a guard contigent at the

Bala Hissar ruins in Kabul. The soldiers there had adopted a litter of

pups and I was fortunate to capture this moment while I was visiting this

site. Please let me know what you think.

Puppy love is universal and muti-cultural, for sure. Thanks for sharing (and take care)... Mike

A man with a gun who plays tenderly with the little dog. A great message in this shot. I like it. Ciao.

Everybody loves puppies, even a hardened soldier. Nice job in capturing the contrast between the two. Thanks for your service in the conflict.

I'm very late here , sorry. This is so different to everything that we see and hear of Afghanistan. It is a reminder of how life goes on in situations like this.

Great shot. You've framed the subject and background perfectly.

Hmm? The BDU's and weapon sure look familiar to me

Very nice capture the moment shot. It conveys a very strong message as others have said. I think one of the things that really makes this image work is all the supporting elements: the outstretched hand, the soldier's smile, the meek puppy expression. the weapon pointing towards the puppy, and the soldier looking toward the puppy. One thing I could suggest to make it even stronger is to eliminate the non-supporting scenery on the left by using a square format. Well done.

THIS IS NOT TO OFFEND

Watching this I instantly thought of Marwencol (google it). The cross section where reality looks artificial and the artificial looks real are a real interest for me. This one looks like an posed action-doll and i think it's partially due to the way he holds the gun. Also the clean skin of the guy and your use of flash. Please visit my Miniworld album for samples of my point. Thanks for sharing

PS: I know it's real and (at it's core) serious business.
