whydangle 0 Posted May 7, 2009 The way this area receives the morning light creates a pastel blue image. It is not dazzling, it is somber and calming. I enjoy being here at this time of day, it brings back memories of the east. While this landscape has very little in common with the east's luxuriant green environment, during this time of day, it has a refreshing quality of light that is very similar to the east. I lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. They were referred to as the "Blue Ridge" for obvious reasons. My current surrounding landscape is very dry and brown by comparison, yet at dawn, the blue light bathes the scene and conjures memories of the east. Thanks for your thoughts! Link to comment

floris2 0 Posted May 7, 2009 Super composition Mark! I really like this one, the foreground pushes me up into the image, and the stalk and trees balance one another very nicely. The hues are beautiful all around, very peaceful indeed! Makes me want to go back again too! Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted May 7, 2009 Mark... Indeed it does have the receding blues common in the Blue Ridge. Beautiful composition... Mike Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted May 8, 2009 Thanks Floris and Mike. As I approached this location, I could see the clouds to the west and expected a light show. There was a brief red glow when the sun first started to rise, then as quickly it checked out. So fickle. None the less, I truly enjoyed the morning, shooting less and just taking it in. It's good to have something like this so close by. Link to comment
