whydangle 0 Posted May 7, 2009 I am not even sure if this one works, so I need some feedback. The light changed too quickly to recompose, but I was committed to utilizing this Blue Oak in the arrangement. My only regret was not being able to get the base of the tree. I will post a vertical soon; the vertical includes most of the tree, however, does not include the sloping ridges to the left. I had hoped to put together 4 verticals for a pano, but my exposures were over 10 seconds. In no time the light went flat and I was out of time. The best light can be so fleeting. Thanks for any observations! Link to comment

rekaras 0 Posted May 7, 2009 I would have to see the base of the tree to see if really adds any dimension to the image but I think the image works well as it is. The addition of the tree is in itself crucial as it augments the slopes and the subtle lighting. The warm light of the setting sun adds an additional element that completes the overall effect. Adding the base of the tree may or may not further enhance I'll look forward to seeing your vertical post. rek Link to comment

Not Here 93 Posted May 7, 2009 Mark.... I’ve been sitting on this comment for a day, trying to come up with a dazzling monologue of techno babble but... that ain’t me. I did come up with this thought. Whatever isn’t real strong in this photo, whether it’s the slightly flat color (other than the sunrise) or the background detail; well, it’s all your fault. :-) Now, before you go cow patty on me, let me explain. You are a producer of complex sports cars masking themselves as sedans; deceptive simplicity at it’s best, and now you’ve made a sedan. There’s nothing wrong with that and sedans are what most of us drive, so we love it, but it’s bothering you. Forget about it, it’s a very well documented, natural image that looks great. Now, go out and get us some more speed! We're all loving this new series of yours... Mike Link to comment
deans 0 Posted May 8, 2009 Sorry Mark, it just seems cut off on the right. Beautiful image otherwise. Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted May 9, 2009 Thanks Richard, Ricardo. Mike. Dr, Didi and Dean. Mike, I like your analogy. I think it fits well. As far as bringing more speed, I won't be posting anything for some time now, unless it is something that has been waiting in the wings. I still have a few I haven't had the chance to process yet. I will be putting the camera away for the summer while we prepare and bring our new son into the world. He will have all of my time and attention for the first few months, so photography will have to wait. He couldn't be arriving at a better time. The summer here is not all that conducive to photography anyway. Dean, thanks for offering your perspective. I had planned for some time to compose a scene with this tree in mind, but I didn't realize that the tree behind me would keep me from moving back and to the right to get the entire tree in the frame. The light faded rapidly and there was no time to find another subject. Link to comment

rbanfield 0 Posted May 9, 2009 A shot for another day. Have to tell you though, I really like this:>). Would still like to see what the rest of the tree looks like in relation to the rest of the shot. Reguardless its a fine capture that stands on its own. Oh, enjoy your Summer with your latest addition to an already beautiful family. My best to all and see you back here in the Fall...Lefty Link to comment
