Reflections

This was the first time that I have been inside a cave. The water has

collected naturally and it was so crystal clear that the reflections on its

surface seemed real. One can see the water surface; almost everything

beneath this is a reflection. Thanks for your comments.

This is a picture I would have preferred to shoot with end-to-end sharpness. Did you make any small aperture shots?

Thanks for your observation. For this shot, my settings were f1.8, 50mm, 1/20 sec, ISO 125 given the circumstances. The photo was taken in a cave lit artificially from strategic angles. What is the ideal way I should shoot in such conditions?

I half expect Gollum to pop out and scare me crapless!

I think this is a beautiful picture, you should be proud of it.

Very nice scene, I do enjoy a good cave, but I agree with Satish comments. First a good tripod is a must have tool for this type of photo, F/9 or so would have helped your depth of field but would have been a long shutter, I have shot at ISO 400 in caves without to much noise and that can help get your shutter speed a little faster if you need it. If you work with software that can blend different exposures then you can bracket you exposures and focus distance and then blend all the different shots and make one shot. Just trying to help, best regards.

I take your points, David. PN has been a learning experience for me and people like you have helped me on several occasions. You suggest I take a few shots and blend them later; am I right? In that case, I'll have to up my photo-editing skills much more. All the photos in my portfolio have been edited using changes in contrast and sharpness at the most...other than those which I have converted to monotones or b/w. I still convert to b/w using the "greyscale" option, which I gather is not the best thing to do. But as I said, I'm just not good enough with software...
