this is an amazing shot John. I love the texture and almost metalic tones you achieved on the water blur. I also like the contrast with the near monochromatic still background. Excellent work. Regards - michel

Fantastic shutter speed for the water, John. I like the contrast between the smooth waters and the sharpness of the trees. Congrats.

John... Wonderful shot and an excellent job controlling the white water, but retaining the shadows... Mike

I appreciate your comments gents...but suddenly I noticed something I can't believe I overlooked in this shot...something very annoying to a self-confessed OCD personality. Either my lens hood wasn't turned correctly, or I have unwanted vignetting at the top corners of the photo. I think it's the lens hood. Do things like this annoy you as much as me? I could have easily cloned it out...but, whatever I suppose!

The river had plenty of water flow this spring...as opposed to last year, when there was a mere trickle...but our timing was off by about a week, as the trees had only begin to leaf out and just a few of the dogwoods were blooming around the streams. May try to go back this coming weekend.

thanks for coming by!

John... :-) I had the same vignetting this past weekend from stacking filters. I noticed, but sometimes here on PN we get caught up in the technical and miss the beauty of the image, so I chose to ignore this slight little bobble... Look forward to the photos from your return trip... Mike

Patsy, thank you! Maybe we can get together sometime soon and we can shoot some streams. There's truly no reason you can't do this! Be thinking about it...and maybe you and the hubby can meet Patty and I in your neck of the woods (maybe Burgess Falls)...and we can shoot some streams. Whether it's now or later...we're pretty flexible, so just let us know when you're ready!

Warm regards, John

it's real in the sense that nothing has been added or substracted in post processing...but not real in the sense that you'd ever see water that looks like this with the naked eye.  the exposure was probably two - three seconds, which accounts for the texture of the water.  hope that answers your question!  if i may ask...you wrote the word "moon" as the heading to your comment.  you lost may there...so I'm just wondering what "moon" means?  :}

regards ...and thanks for your comment/question,

John
