Rootface (vert)

marshall

This was taken in the old growth forest on the shoulders of Mt. Rainier. It shows a detail view of an upturned tree; the bottom was four feet high, covered in knobs and ridges and random patterns. After first taking a view of the whole thing, I started to zoom in, isolating out parts to create a more interesting image, until I ran across this distorted clown face (ok, that's what it looked like to me, anyway).

I didn't record the exposure time, but it was in the neighborhood of 30 seconds. Also, this may not be my best lens for this subject, but it's the one I had with me, since I can't keep up with my wife if I carry too much gear!
