soniam 6 Posted May 1, 2009 And you thought mosquitoes were bad! Can you imagine what this guy could do to you. As far as I know they leave humans alone. Any comments and suggestions are welcome. Thank you very much Link to comment

blue-olympus 0 Posted May 2, 2009 An excellent macro..like the positioning, was this shot horizontal?...Regards Link to comment
jayanti 0 Posted May 2, 2009 Great detail and angle; has it been rotated? Best regards. Link to comment
soniam 6 Posted May 2, 2009 Thank you all so much. No, this has not been rotated. He was warming in the sun on the side of a tree trunk, just a little lower than eye level. Thankfully, when he flew away he didn't seem too interested in me :) Link to comment
gerrymorgan 0 Posted May 2, 2009 What a beautiful robber fly! And I like the angle you've photographed him at. This insect is completely harmless to humans. The impressive proboscis is for attacking other insects in order to eat them, by sucking out their juices. He's not a mosquito and he's not interested in blood. I disagree with your 'ugly' tag -- I think he's gorgeous. Nicely shot! Link to comment

soniam 6 Posted May 6, 2009 Ha ha ha. I'm sorry about that Frederick! Oh, I hope you do invest in a macro. It is so much fun and can keep me entertained for hours. A great way to go exploring! Link to comment
amir49 0 Posted January 18, 2010 its a very good macro shot with nice focus and good composition . i have a canon rebel xti like u too and im interested in macro shots . if u like 2 get better resolution and colors from your camera to make your prints better i can tell u that u could change your file saveing of your camerafrom jpg to RAW and the color space from sRGB to adobe RGB in camera setting and you will see the changes abviously in results . you are currently useing sRGB in colour space and jpg format that looses the 70% of the data detail of your captures .u can easiliy convert the RAW format of your camera in to TIFF that has 100% of your data detail or in to the jpg format with a very better softwares than your camera built in software . best regards <<<>>> Link to comment
