Self Portrait, v. II

I made some adjustments from a prior version, which is in the Portrait

section of my portfolio if you would like to compare.

 

This is a self-portrait, a result of exploring different positions and

strengths of my strobe kit. I am still very new to studio flash.

 

As always, constructive comments, positive and negative, and welcome

and appreciated. Ratings are always fun, but comments help us all

improve! Thanks for looking!

I downloaded both images and viewed them side-by-side. I'd say the other one has a softer light and this one harsher. What hit me immediately was that the person in this photograph appeared stronger, the other one mellower. My two cents...

I agree with your assessment. The straighter, bolder line between shadow and highlight suggests strength. There isn't a lot of "soft" to this at all. The two versions of this image are my favorite self-portraits, hands down. So far.

 

Oddly enough, the first submission's ratings are significantly higher in originality.
