GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted May 1, 2009 Summer Fun is amiss if you don't do a little 'Daytripping'....this shot was taken at Guildercroft Furniture where my son, although rather isolated...had the opportunity to work and learn the fine craft of making Canadiana Furniture (tenon joinery...woodpegging-harvest tables, hutches etc.) by hand. This trade may come in handy in our economy. Open House was on a fine June afternoon....Antiques Galore!!! in their quaint little barn; reclaimed items surround the farm fields...then there is a main showroom. My favorite spot however was the quaint barn where 'too' many treasures were to be found. comments welcome .... Link to comment

setsail728 14 Posted May 1, 2009 What a captivating photo. Each one of those old and exquisitely formed "reclaimed items" could tell a whole story itself. The arrangement on that vertically oriented fence, with that light and shadow is just wonderful. I've just got to gaze at this composition a while longer after I finish writing this and let my imagination fill in the rest!! Another one of your signature masterpieces. Hey....you must remember The Beatles!! "He was a day tripper! A one way ticket...yeah!!" Link to comment
gajbarker 0 Posted May 2, 2009 Well done! I wish I had taken it as it is the type of shot I really like. Hopefully, I will get out more this summer and maybe come across this sort of picture. Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted May 2, 2009 Thanks so much for visiting and to be sure - your enthusiastic comments are ...so appreciated. The shot looks good - as is- but I added a bit of an 'effect' to it.....kind of wanted to add a bit of anohter dimension.....seeing as it was old pieces from another 'era' ....well almost. Warren, here in Ontario, nearly all the antique stores, Art Galleries, Craft Stores, and Tourist Info Booths have a Summer Edition of EVERYWHRE to go and how to get there.....in Ontario....all the Summer Events....it's so handy......even our Gallery was mentioned in it a few times........and it is called 'The Daytripper'! Your handy guide to everything that's happening during the summer and fall months. But yes...I do remember the Beatles....I actually had a boyfriend when I was 15 who used to sing (& play guitar)to me...imagine...being serenaded...Dad made me my 'suede fringed vests' our Granny glasses, bell bottoms, and the MUSIC it was a time that will never be again...so much talent.....but he sang...Long and Winding Road.....Let it Be.... "Bread's If a Face Could Launch a Thousand Ships..Carpenters...(heavy sigh!)should have really hung onto that fella...went on to become 'The Dean of ....a School of Medicine in Southwestern Ontario...and is a Professor and of Allergies and Rhinistis...Asthma...now...... ahhh......the days of summmer.....long gone....you never forget your FIRST LOVE........ tnks again...........Gail Link to comment

lizweisiger 0 Posted May 2, 2009 Gail, this is a great image of life as seen in the world of the reclaimed. Wonderfully composed, neat PE. I love places like this. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted May 2, 2009 thankyou so much.....get me into these places and I don't want to leave....I used to do 'Window dressing ' for stores....you should see the outside of my house....its not distasteful....but I'm well known in our "Adult Subdivision' for the lady with the beautiful wall and antique plow at the front of her house (I have an Ornamental tree growing out of the centre of it. I also have one of those...ooooh can't think of the name...you put it on the cow, when you plow the fields....wooden with metal rings on either end...well, I have it hanging from the front porch and put a 'hanging planter from either end.'. I'll get over and check out our Portfolio...I'm sure I know it...but you never know...there are so many here on PN....tnks again....Gail Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted May 3, 2009 There you go again, 'speaking in song' ....love it....even though there is a 'slight' language barrier, you have very good expression of the English language....the difference is 'you'.....and I love the way you describe a photo....I think you are right, a good photo should 'take on a life of its own'.......a 'three dimensional' extension of ourselves"......Gracias Eduard.....for taking the time to stop by and comment. ....most sincerely, Gail Link to comment
