A horizontal pan of the ripples on the surface of the Caribbean sea

at sunset. Thanks for any constructive suggestions or critique.

It is a beautiful image. I like the wonderful colors and textures. Nicely done. Dan

No suggestions. It is lovely. A lesson in light and color.

 

I've a nagging suspicion that I would have cropped out the top third to emphasize the intensity of the bottom 2/3s. And that would have been a mistake. (Too–quick cropitis is a terrible disease.) The bottom needs the top to offer balance and to testify on the variations of light and color.

I admit I have a few of these types of photos in my "library", but many have some sort of rising wave in them so this caught my eye when I was checking out your profile page. I do enjoy the almost gradient feel going from very thin "ripples" on top to the thicker and more substantial "ripples" at the bottom. The color doesn't appear to be overdone at least on the current monitor I am viewing this. it is a quite pleasing golden glow to it consistent with a sunrise/sunset.

 

A crop off the top and bottom to make it traditional landscape is also a very pleasing composition to me.

I am familiar with your surf photos and they are quite amazing. I am glad this image holds some appeal for you. As for the colours, I did adjust the black point and gamma but not dramatically . This was a low light shot taken in the final moments of sunset so the original colour was vivid. I actually desaturated the file a bit.
