Taken with a very sharp P&S lens but DOF is hard to control with these cameras due to their short focal length. Even wide open the DOF is incredible. Best, LM.

Another nice pattern/textures shot Len! I like the amount of solid blacks in the deep shadows and just the right amount of contrast. I've long admired cattails for their aestheic and useful, (food/craft material) qualities so it adds to this shot's appeal to me.

I was out with WJ (Bill) Gibson, from Victoria Harbour, when I took this one. It was actually his idea and, as it turns out, a good one at that. He says shots like this make good wallpaper & I agree. I played with it a bit in PS, preferred the square crop and the B&W conversion. Add a tad of contrast & this image is what you get. So easy to take & process, so rewarding on paper (I've printed it). Don't be a stranger! Best, LM.

Interesting how something so simple can become intersting when is proppely showed. You did a great job with the processing, I like the contrast and clarity.

Congrats,

Alex

Thanks for weighing in on this one with your thoughts. True, simple is sometimes best. Less is more, as it's been said.

It was an overcast day and these rather flat, dun coloured reeds needed a bit of a contrast boost. Best, LM.

Len...good job on the contrast & nice composition. There is a series of vertical & horizontal paths in the reeds. Yup, simple is often best!

Thanks for the visit. Yah, just an abstract randomness. But then, that's all I had hoped for. Makes for interesting wallpaper. Best, LM.

Funny interpretation/experiment.

Maybe you can try the same picture but in the night with a special light? would be interesting to try...what do you think?

Your visit is much appreciated. Interesting idea about the night shoot. One could have some fun experimenting with some multiple off camera flash positions here. Or, a single off camera flash using multiple pops with the camera on 'bulb'. I think this particular location is inaccessible after dark but the idea has merit. Best, LM.

I like the contrasts Len but I think the over all picture lacks a main pov. It seems to be a bit to busy, maybe what you wanted. The reeds are tough to photograph, seldom anything to put as a main focus point. Does make a interesting abstract nature capture.

Many thanks for your visit. Nothing more intended here than to demonstrate the busy randomness of nature. The subject is what you see, reeds! Increased contrast in PS simply adds a bit of 'snap'. Always a pleasure. Best, LM.
