Taos Moon (color)

marshall

Meandering around Taos, New Mexico earlier this spring, chasing some nice sunset light, we saw the moon rising opposite the sunset. There was enough sunlight left to balance the moon with something terrestrial, and this church's roofline seemed photogenic enough for the job. [The church is quite near the historic square in Taos, actually, but I didn't like including the whole face of it because it's in a parking lot, and because I wanted the moon to be a slightly larger element in the frame.] This is the original color version of an image; I'll also post the experiment, toned b&w version. Beyond the general preferences for b&w vs. color, I'm certainly interested to hear comparison opinions. Unusual for me, I did a little selective alteration to the sky to saturate the color a little more, hoping to create a little more contrast in the scene.
