mark_q 0 Posted April 21, 2009 Before I scrolled down enough to see the title I got a feeling looking at highly polished and then brushed sheet of steel refelcting a building facade... but then again the truth might be something else, served by your magick touch on reality. Thanks for setting my imagination in swing. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 21, 2009 Markku; You are looking at the results of a rapid vertical pan down the face of a building, taken from inside another building across the street. The window glass was covered on the outside with raindrops which translated as steaks down the frame. I did some fooling around with sharpening followed by blurring, then resharpening. I agree it ends up looking like brushed metal. The title was a snippet from a line out of a David Sylvian song.... it seemed to fit. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 22, 2009 Liking nearly all you work, this one included. I like the FG/BG , the gradation of light, color, texture, and composition in general. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 22, 2009 Pnina; Thanks for the feedback. Your unfaltering support and assistance is in large part what keeps me posting at PN. I am most appreciative. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted April 23, 2009 Good to see normal programming resumed, and this is wonderful. I have been working at keeping streaks out of the ones that I am doing but this makes it the main feature. For me this is all about the tones moving from light to dark, top to bottom - beautifully done. Do you use sharpening and blur often on these shots? So far, I haven't done anything like that - food for thought. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 23, 2009 On most occasions when doing these motion shots, I too try to be aware of any spectral highlights or bright areas of sky etc. which can leave rather nasty blown streaks in the scene. In this case the rain spots on the window were not hot enough to blow and I liked the resulting streaks so I tried to play them up. This is not a usual approach for me rather just something I stumbled upon while try to decide whether those streaks looked better sharpened or softened. Sometimes indecision can turn out to be fortuitous. Link to comment

gordonjb 10,860 Posted July 27, 2009 Halina; Thanks, I am glad you liked this one. The colour of the sky blended nicely with the warmth of the lighted upper windows. John; Howdy stranger! I took this through a rain spattered window from a building directly across the street from this one. Rapidly panning the streaked rain drops gave a rather unsuspected result which appealed to me. I'm glad it appeals to you. Link to comment
