acarodp 0 Posted April 20, 2009 Two unfinished Moai wait since (at least) the 15th century in thequarry outside the Rano Raraku crater, Rapa Nui (Easter Island).Between the 13th and the 15th century, the Rapa Nui people carvedalmost 900 of these massive volcanic rock statues by means of stonetools, mostly from the Rano Raraku quarry. Almost 400 of them werenever transported to their intended placements (the "Ahus" mostly onthe coast). Thank you for comments and critiques! L. Link to comment
